34. Không có cô hồn, có chăng là ngạ quỉ.

Hôm nay là ngày rằm Trung Nguơn có một điều từ thử đến giờ bên Phật Giáo lạc lầm về chỗ các đẳng linh hồn mà người ta gọi cô hồn đó, không có cô hồn đâu. Today is the full moon of the Middle Cycle (Trung Nguơn). There is one matter that, from then until now, Buddhism has been mistaken about concerning the different levels of souls, which people call "cô hồn" (wandering/lonely/orphaned souls). There are no such things as lonely souls.
Hoặc may ra, có lẽ mấy vị khi trước đã đạt pháp gặp đám ngạ quỉ súc sanh phần nhiều là con nít, các đẳng chơn hồn về súc sanh, cho nên các chơn hồn trẻ mãi thôi, vì cớ cho nên người ta làm áo thí cô hồn nhỏ nhỏ vậy. Perhaps, it may be that some masters who had attained the dharma in the past encountered groups of "ngạ quỉ" (hungry ghosts) from the animal realm. Many were children, souls from the animal realm, and for that reason, their souls remained forever young. Because of this, people make small clothes as offerings for these lonely souls.
Không có cô hồn đâu, nếu như Bần Đạo không lầm thì người ta đã có một vị là cô hồn, ấy là người con gái, là Thanh Tâm Tài Nữ đã chết, là khi người tắm ở tại Cap St. Jacques bị chết chìm. There are no lonely souls. If I am not mistaken, people have identified one person as a lonely soul, that is, the young woman Thanh Tâm Tài Nữ who died, who drowned while bathing at Cap Saint-Jacques.
Thanh Tâm Tài Nữ chết như thế mà không phải là cô hồn đâu. Thanh Tâm Tài Nữ died like that, but she is not a lonely soul.
Các phẩm chơn hồn đạt phẩm vị nhơn phẩm không có cô quả bao giờ. The various ranks of souls that have attained human rank are never lonely or orphaned.
Nơi cảnh Hư Linh hằng sống kia người ta còn có gia đình, thân tộc bạn tác anh em của người ta, không có một chơn hồn nào đã đạt nhơn phẩm mà gọi là cô hồn đặng. In that realm of eternal life, people still have families, relatives, friends, and brothers. No soul that has attained human rank can be called a lonely soul.
Có hay chăng là thiên hạ tưởng tượng vậy thôi. If anything, it is just what the world imagines.
Tưởng người chết không con nối hậu, không ai phụng sự, xiêu mồ lạc mã, người ta cho là cô hồn, sự thật là không phải. They imagine that those who die without descendants to continue the line, with no one to worship them, whose graves are neglected and lost, they consider them lonely souls. In truth, that is not so.
Bần Đạo lập lại lần nữa, không có cô hồn, chỉ có đám ngạ quỉ súc sanh mà thôi, như các đẳng chơn hồn mà chúng ta cầu nguyện trong Trung Nguơn đây là cốt yếu để cho họ giải quả thoát kiếp, có lẽ trước kia người ta biết một điều bí mật là các ngạ quỉ súc sanh hay ăn uống thường phá khuấy thiên hạ đặng kiếm ăn, còn chúng ta ngày Trung Nguơn hay là Thượng Nguơn chúng ta cúng kiến là cúng Ông Bà Tổ Phụ, Ông Bà và bạn tác đồng sống với chúng ta mới qui liễu. I repeat once more, there are no lonely souls, there are only groups of hungry ghosts and the animal. As for the various ranks of souls for whom we pray during this Middle Cycle, it is primarily so that they may resolve their karma and escape their cycle of rebirth. Perhaps in the past, people knew a secret, that the hungry ghosts of the animal realm often ate and drank, frequently disturbing people to find food. As for us, on the day of the Middle Cycle or the Upper Cycle (Thượng Nguơn), when we perform worship, we are worshiping our ancestors, grandparents, and the friends who lived with us and have recently passed away.
Ngày cúng ấy là ngày chúng ta nhắc lại sự đau thảm chia ly với nhau trong kiếp sống. That day of worship is a day we recall the sorrowful separation from each other in this life.
Còn kiếp chết của chúng ta sẽ được tương ngộ trên cảnh hư linh hằng sống kia, cái cảm tình của chúng ta ngày đó dầu cho dưa muối mà chúng ta nhớ cái thâm tình ấy là quí trọng. As for our afterlife, we will be reunited in that realm of eternal life. The sentiment we feel on that day, even if it's just over pickles and salt, is precious because we remember that deep affection.
Quí trọng hay chăng là cái lòng yêu ái của chúng ta dưng cho họ, nhớ tưởng đến họ mà thôi, sanh như tiền, tử như thị, ấy là Đạo nhơn luân của chúng ta, nhứt là Đạo phong hóa của nhà Nam. Whether it is precious or not depends on the love we offer them, remembering and thinking of them. To treat the living as if they are present and the dead as if they are present—that is our human ethics (Đạo nhơn luân), especially the moral customs (Đạo phong hóa) of our Southern land.
Bần Đạo lập lại lần nữa không có đám cô hồn đâu, nếu vị nào đạt được nhơn phẩm ở thế gian này dầu cho cô quạnh thế nào, nơi cảnh thiêng liêng hắng sống kia họ cũng có anh em bạn tác gia đình của họ, chúng ta không có người nào cô quả hết chỉ sợ có một điều là bạn tác, anh em chị em đồng sống với chúng ta mà họ không tu, khi về cảnh thiêng liêng hằng sống không thế gì mà gặp nhau được, cái đó mới vô phước và đáng sợ hơn hết, ngoài ra không có cô hồn, chỉ có đám ngạ quỉ súc sanh mà thôi. I repeat once more, there are no lonely souls. If any being has attained human rank in this world, no matter how lonely they were, in that realm of eternal life, they still have their brothers, friends, and family. None of us are lonely or orphaned. We should only fear one thing: that the friends, brothers, and sisters who live with us do not cultivate. When they return to the realm of eternal life, it will be impossible to meet each other. That is truly unfortunate and most frightening. Besides that, there are no lonely souls, only groups of hungry ghosts from the animal realm.
Bần Đạo thuyết tiếp về tam nguơn, tại sao trong Càn Khôn Võ Trụ chia làm tam nguơn, là khi Càn Khôn Võ trụ chưa lập ra, ban đầu cả tinh khối sanh lực của Càn Khôn bao trùm hết, khi biến thiên mới tạo ra vạn vật, hồi lúc Đức Chí Tôn giáng linh gọi là Thượng Nguơn. I will continue to preach about the three cycles (tam nguơn). Why is the Universe divided into three cycles? It is because before the Universe was formed, in the beginning, the entire mass of vital force of the Cosmos encompassed everything. When changes occurred, the myriad things were created. The time when the Supreme Being bestowed the soul, that is called the Upper Cycle (Thượng Nguơn).
Người giáng linh nắm cả nguyên khí ấy luyện trong Càn Khôn Võ Trụ biết hoạt động nương theo cái sanh lực là chữ khí đó (Hộ Pháp chỉ ra Liên Đài Hộ Pháp có chữ khí) tượng hình của mình. The Supreme Being who bestowed grasped all that primordial energy (nguyên khí) and cultivated it in the Universe so that it knew how to operate, relying on the life force, which is the word "khí" (energy) (Hộ Pháp points to the Hộ Pháp's Lotus Platform, which has the character for "khí") as the image of oneself.
Kế tiếp nữa là Trung Nguơn Đức Chí Tôn tạo vạn vật dầu cho loài người cũng ở trong vạn vật ấy. Next is the Middle Cycle (Trung Nguơn). The Supreme Being created the myriad things, and even humankind is among those myriad things.
Giờ phút Đức Chí Tôn đến cho loài người được cái linh, tức nhiên cho họ cái khôn ngoan hiển hách khác hơn vạn loại kia, gọi là giáng khí vì cớ Đức Hộ Pháp bắt Ấn Trung Nguơn hai bàn tay phải hiệp lại với nhau là âm dương tương hiệp, theo cái thiên linh của Đức Chí Tôn đến cái nhơn linh của loài người. The moment the Supreme Being came to give humankind soul, that is, to give them a brilliant wisdom different from other beings, it is called the "bestowal of khí (engery)." For this reason, the Hộ Pháp's Middle Cycle mudra involves the two hands uniting, which is yin and yang in harmony, representing the divine soul of the Supreme Being coming to the human soul of humankind.
Đến Hạ Nguơn Đức Chí Tôn giáng Thần, tức nhiên là cái Thiên vị Đức Chí Tôn mở ngôi Thần, Thánh, Tiên, Phật cho Vạn Linh đặng cho các chơn hồn đạt vị của mình, chuyển luân trong quả kiếp sanh sanh tử tử mà đạt pháp lập thiên vị; Đức Chí Tôn giáng trần Hạ Nguơn là cốt yếu như vậy. Coming to the Lower Cycle (Hạ Nguơn), the Supreme Being bestows the spirit. That is, the Supreme Being's divine position opens the ranks of Gods, Saints, Immortals, and Buddhas for All Souls, so that souls can attain their positions, reincarnating through karmic cycles of life and death to attain the dharma and establish their heavenly rank. The Supreme Being descending in the Lower Cycle has that primary purpose.
Vì cớ nên Hộ Pháp bắt ấn hạ nguơn là tới tuần trà: hai bàn tay úp nhau, tả là Dương trên, Hữu là âm dưới; chụp lên đầu Kim Tiên đưa xuống giáng thần cho thiên hạ ba cái Bí Pháp đó là vậy. For this reason, the Hộ Pháp's Lower Cycle mudra is performed during the tea offering: the two hands are face down, the left is Yang above, the right is Yin below; it covers the head of the Golden Whip and is brought down to bestow the spirit upon the people. Those are the three Esoteric Dharmas.
Bây giờ Thượng Nguơn trở lại, trong Càn Khôn Võ trụ Nhựt Quang có bảy trái địa cầu (Sept planètes du système solaire) nhơn loại ở được bảy trái đó đi chung quanh giáp một quận gọi là đại chuyển thì có: 61.000.000 năm (sáu mươi mốt triệu năm là một chuyển). Now, returning to the Upper Cycle. In the solar system of the Universe, there are seven planets (the seven planets of the solar system). Humanity can live on those seven planets. To go around a complete cycle is called a great transition (đại chuyển), which is 61,000,000 years (sixty-one million years is one transition).
Trong sáu mươi mốt triệu năm nếu chúng ta tính coi thì chúng ta ngó thấy trái đất này nó tái kiếp lại, nghĩa là chết rồi phục sinh lại bảy lần 61 là 427 triệu năm, thì trái đất đã chết một phen cốt hài của nó còn lại là mặt trăng đó. In sixty-one million years, if we calculate, we see that this Earth is reincarnated. That is, it dies and is reborn seven times. 61 times 7 is 427 million years. So the Earth has died once. Its skeleton that remains is the moon.
Kể từ nó mới phục sinh lại đến nay là ba chuyển rồi nó sẽ đến Thượng Nguơn tứ chuyển. From its rebirth until now, it has been three transitions. It will come to the Upper Cycle of the fourth transition.
Mỗi trung chuyển là 61.000 năm, Hạ chuyển lại là: sáu ngàn một trăm năm. Each middle transition (trung chuyển) is 61,000 years. The lower transition (hạ chuyển) is 6,100 years.
Một Giáng là sáu ngàn một trăm năm cũng chia ra ba Nguơn vậy. A Bestowal (Giáng) is 6,100 years, which is also divided into three Cycles.
Một Giáng là sáu ngàn một trăm năm thì mỗi Nguơn là hai ngàn ba trăm ba mươi năm hễ mỗi Nguơn ấy tới 2.333 năm 33 ngày 33 giờ 33 phút, qua trong mấy cái ba mươi ba đó sẽ có một vị thiêng liêng ở cung Phật hay cung Tiên giáng thế chuyển Đạo. If a Bestowal is 6,100 years, then each Cycle is two thousand three hundred and thirty years. Each Cycle is 2,333 years, 33 days, 33 hours, 33 minutes. During those thirty-threes, a divine being from the Palace of Buddha or the Palace of Immortals will descend to the world to transmit the Religion.
Vì cớ nên tượng hình Càn Khôn Võ trụ có ba Nguơn tạo đoan vạn vật. For this reason, the image of the Universe has three Cycles of creating the myriad things.
Trung Nguơn là Nguơn giáng khí, như chúng ta tin dị đoan thì Trung Nguơn này chúng ta nên cầu khẩn Đức Chí Tôn để thức tỉnh trí thức tinh thần loài người đặng cho họ minh tâm kiến tánh cho thiên linh, của họ khôn ngoan đặng bảo tồn sinh mạng của họ. The Middle Cycle is the Cycle of the "bestowal of energy." If we believe in esoterica, then during this Middle Cycle, we should beseech the Supreme Being to awaken the intellect and spirit of humanity so they may clarify their minds and see their true nature, so that their divine spirit can be wise and preserve their lives.
Giờ phút này đừng cầu nguyện cho cô hồn nữa, mà chúng ta cầu nguyện cho con cái Đức Chí Tôn cho họ đủ năng lực để minh tâm kiến tánh, bảo trọng sanh mạng của họ mà thôi. At this moment, do not pray for lonely souls anymore. Instead, we should pray for the children of the Supreme Being, so that they have enough power to clarify their minds and see their true nature, to protect their own lives.
