hình chất của con người còn công danh phú quí ấy vẫn còn, mà mất thì công danh phú quí ấy vẫn mất. as long as the physical form of the person remains, that reputation and wealth remain, but when the person is gone, that reputation and wealth are also gone.
Hại thay! Còn mất ấy nó ở trong đời tạm con người một trăm năm là quá cao rồi. Alas! That remaining and disappearing exists only within the temporary life of a person, for whom one hundred years is already a long time.
Chúng ta đã ngó thấy một người ăn mày với một bình bát đi xin đặng độ nhựt, đặng sống vì Đạo, We have seen a beggar with an alms bowl, begging to get through the day, to live for the Way.
cái bình bát ấy nó đựng cả Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ, Yet that alms bowl contained the entire Universe;
cái bình bát ấy nó “đựng” cả tinh thần tâm hồn toàn thể nhơn loại là Đức Phật Thích Ca. that alms bowl contained the spirit and soul of all humanity—that was Shakyamuni Buddha.
Một kẻ bị xử án, tội nhơn chết trên cây Thánh Giá không có một manh áo, chỉ trơ mình tấm thân trần (lỗ), A condemned man, a criminal who died on a Holy Cross without a scrap of clothing, with only his naked body exposed,
kẻ ấy hôm nay làm Chúa của toàn thiên hạ trên thế gian này. that man today is the Lord of all the people on this earth.
Hai công danh tôi tưởng không cần gì để lên mặt cân mà lường, These two kinds of reputation, I think, do not need to be weighed on a scale.
cả toàn thể con cái Đức Chí Tôn đã ngó thấy Quyền Giáo Tông của chúng ta biết lựa con đường ấy biết cái trọng, cái khinh, All the children of the Supreme Being have seen that our Acting Pope knew how to choose that path. He knew what was heavy and what was light.
Ngài khôn ngoan hơn hết, bỏ cái khinh giữ cái trọng. He was the wisest of all, abandoning the light to keep the heavy.
Chúng ta thử nghĩ, chúng ta vì gia đình là cho Tông đường ta và ông cha ta, Let us consider this: we live for our family, which is for our ancestral hall and our forefathers.
tưởng ra nó còn lại với một cái tình yêu ái của toàn thể thiên hạ, Compare that with what remains from the love of all of humanity.
cái nào hơn, cái nào thua, cái nào trọng, cái nào khinh, chúng ta không nói cũng có thể hiểu được. Which is greater, which is lesser? Which is heavy, which is light? Even without my saying it, we can understand.
Ước mong đoàn em của Ngài biết cái lập trường quí báu của mình đứng trong lập trường ấy thế nào đặng vững tinh thần, giữ danh thể, giữ cái oai võ của mình cho toàn vẹn giá trị mình.
