Hôm nay là ngày Hội Quốc Liên, là ngày kỷ niệm tuyên dương của Hội Nhơn quyền. Today is League of Nations Day, the day to commemorate the proclamation of the Declaration of Human Rights.
Nhơn Quyền của Hội Quốc Liên hôm nay do căn bản của Hội Nhơn Quyền do Pháp đào tạo và là cái danh dự cao trọng của Pháp hơn hết. The Human Rights of the League of Nations today are based on the foundation of the Human Rights Association established by France, and this is France’s highest and greatest honor.

As I explained on the last League of Nations commemoration day, regarding the honor of creating the Human Rights Association for humanity, the honor that France achieved has brought France an even greater status before all the people of the world, because it was France that first proposed Human Rights.

Có một vị sĩ quan kia tên Dreyfus bị cường bức phải mất chức và bị lao tù, nhưng cái lẽ bất công ấy một người không thể chi minh oan đặng. A military officer named Dreyfus was unjustly forced out of his post and imprisoned, but one person alone could not clear his name of that injustice.

Một khối người họ nghĩ cũng chưa đủ, thế nên họ phải đề xướng lên làm thế nào cho toàn cả quốc dân nước Pháp phải chung hiệp với họ, đặng đem nhơn đạo lại cho kẻ hàm oan nhờ và tranh đấu đặng quyết định thâu hoạch nhơn quyền, các Hội viên của Hội Nhơn Quyền gọi danh là Dreyfusards, thành thử buổi nọ có nhiều trường hợp chiến đấu kịch liệt, một bên nhà cầm quyền, một bên nhứt định phản kháng cái bất công của chánh phủ làm phương nào cứu đặng Dreyfus ra. They thought that just a group of people was not enough, so they had to propose a way for the entire French people to unite with them in order to bring human ethics to the aid of the unjustly accused, and to struggle to definitively win human rights. The members of the Human Rights Association were called Dreyfusards. Thus, in that era, there were many instances of fierce struggle: on one side, the authorities, and on the other, those who were determined to protest the injustice of the government and find a way to rescue Dreyfus.
Họ chiến đấu một cách khó khăn nhưng mà họ đã đắc thắng. They fought with great difficulty, but they were victorious.
Ngày hôm nay cả toàn thể thiên hạ tức nhiên các liệt cường điều nhìn nhận rằng: Tổ chức ấy rất trọng yếu, chánh đáng cho toàn thể nhơn loại được hưởng vậy, vì cớ cho nên Hội Quốc Liên mới tuyên dương ra các nước dân chủ trên mặt địa cầu này, cả thảy điều tùng theo cái tổ chức ấy và thiệt hiện cho toàn thể quốc dân hưởng quyền sở hữu làm người của họ. Today, all the people of the world, that is, all the great powers, recognize that this organization is very important and just, and that all humanity should benefit from it. For this reason, the League of Nations proclaimed it to all the democratic nations on this earth, so they would all follow that organization and realize for their entire citizenry the rights inherent in being human.
Cái sở năng của họ muốn cho nhơn quyền đạt đặng làm thế nào cho cả toàn thể dầu cho cá nhân, dầu cho xã hội nhơn quần điều đặng tự do, tự do tín ngưỡng, tự do tư tưởng, tự do sinh sống, tự do định phận của mình đối với mọi người bất cứ xã hội nào, cần yếu là trong tự do ấy họ có cái đặc phận đối với xã hội của họ mà thôi. Their desired goal in establishing human rights was to ensure that all people—be they individuals or social groups—would have freedom: freedom of belief, freedom of thought, freedom to live, and the freedom to determine one’s own destiny in relation to everyone else, regardless of the society. What is essential is that within that freedom, they also have their specific duty to their society.
Ấy vậy, hôm nay tại sao chúng ta là Đạo Cao Đài mà làm lễ long trọng dâng sớ cho Đức Chí Tôn, cầu nguyện Thiêng Liêng bảo hộ, binh vực cái tổ chức ấy được thiệt hiện nơi mặt địa cầu này. So today, why do we, the Cao Đài Religion, hold a solemn ceremony to offer a petition to the Supreme Being, praying for the Divine to protect and defend that organization so it may be realized on this earth?
Bởi chúng nó là khuôn khổ cho nhơn đạo, nó phải có để giúp Đạo Cao Đài dìu dắt nhơn loại đi đến đại đồng thiên hạ trong bác ái công bình. Because it is the framework for human ethics. It must exist to help the Cao Đài Religion guide humanity toward a global great unity in universal love and justice.
Bao giờ cái phản động lực của mình cũng do nơi quyền năng vô đối của năng lực nhơn quyền Thiêng Liêng kia đã đem đến, hễ có dữ, có hiền, vì có bất công, vì có đau khổ, của những kẻ cô thế bị cường quyền áp bức, họ không biết nương tựa nơi đâu đặng họ tự vệ lấy họ, tự bảo lấy họ, cái bất công ấy dẫy đầy nơi mặt thế gian này. Always, our own reactive force comes from the peerless power of that Divine force of human rights. If there is evil, there is good. Because there is injustice, because there is the suffering of the weak and helpless oppressed by the strong, and they do not know where to turn to defend and protect themselves, this injustice has filled the earth.
Vì cớ mới sản xuất phản động chủ nghĩa, phải có một phương pháp chi bảo vệ nhơn quyền của họ, bằng chẳng vậy cái lẽ bất công trên mặt địa cầu này, chúng ta đã đoán xét thấy một tấn tuồng trước mắt làm cho thiên hạ đau khổ không thể gì giúp đặng, nên mới sản xuất ra phản động lực mạnh mẽ bảo vệ Hội Nhơn Quyền. For this reason, a reactive ideology emerged: there must be some method to protect their human rights. Otherwise, we can see and judge for ourselves the drama of injustice on this earth, which makes the people suffer so much that nothing can be done to help. Thus, a strong reactive force emerged to protect the Human Rights Association.
Phải có một năng lực bảo vệ đặng đối thủ với lẽ bất công xã hội ấy đã làm cho thiên hạ phải thống khổ, làm cho thiên hạ phải ly loạn, phải tương tàn tương sát với nhau, sanh ra một cơ tận diệt. There must be a power to protect, to stand up against that social injustice which has caused people to suffer, to be displaced and in chaos, to destroy and slaughter one another, giving rise to a mechanism of annihilation.
Muốn đem lại hạnh phúc hòa bình, hòa bình thiệt hiện được, phải bảo vệ quyền hành cho cá nhân, cho xã hội và cho toàn thể nhơn loại, tất phải đem lại công chánh bác ái để nơi mặt thế gian này mới đặng. To bring back happiness and peace, for peace to be realized, the rights of the individual, of society, and of all humanity must be protected. Justice and universal love must be brought back to this earth.
Vì cớ cho nên Đức Chí Tôn khiến Hội Quốc Liên dung nạp cái tổ chức Hội Nhơn Quyền của Pháp đặng tuyên dương cùng toàn mặt địa cầu đặng thiệt hiện đại đồng thiên hạ đó vậy. For that reason, the Supreme Being caused the League of Nations to adopt the French Human Rights Association and proclaim it to the entire globe in order to realize a great global unity.
