| Kể từ ngày nhập tịnh nơi Trí Huệ Cung, chắc con cái Đức Chí Tôn đều đánh dấu hỏi? | Since the day I entered the retreat in the Palace of Wisdom, surely the children of the Supreme Being have been asking: Why did His Holiness Hộ Pháp enter a retreat? |

| Vậy Bần Đạo giải rõ hành tàng trong 3 tháng mà Bần Đạo đã làm, cái hành tàng đó cũ kỹ chớ không mấy lạ gì. | Therefore, I shall explain clearly the course of action I have taken these past three months. This course of action is an ancient one, nothing new. |
| Cái hành tàng về mặt Đạo giống như 40 ngày của Đức Chúa Jésus ra ngoài sa mạc cầu khẩn với Đức Chí Tôn ban bố hồng ân cho toàn nhơn loại, đặng đem cơ quan cứu thế của Ngài giao cho khắp xã hội nhơn quần được hưởng, giống như Đức Thích Ca vào vườn Bồ đề ngồi thoàn định đặng xin giải thoát cho chúng sanh. | From the Spiritual Aspect, it is like the 40 days Lord Jesus spent in the desert praying to the Supreme Being to bestow grace upon all humanity, so that He could deliver His instrument of salvation to all of human society to enjoy. It is like Shakyamuni Buddha entering the Bodhi grove and sitting in meditation to ask for the liberation of all sentient beings. |
| Còn về mặt thế, nó giống như Vua David vì tội tình nhơn loại mà buổi nọ ra đồng Sa mạc cầu đảo, xin giải pháp cứu khổ cho dân Y sơ Ra Ên, giống như Vua Hạ Võ mặc hài gai đội nón lá, chịu phong trần đặng cầu đảo cho quốc dân khỏi tội. | And from the Temporal Aspect, it is like King David, who, because of the sins of humanity, once went out to the desert plains to pray for a solution to relieve the suffering of the people of Israel. It is like King Yu of the Xia dynasty, who wore thorn sandals and a conical leaf hat, enduring the elements to pray for his people to be forgiven of their sins. |
| Muốn nói rõ hành tàng căn mạng của toàn thể nhơn loại và toàn thể quốc dân Việt Nam đã làm cho Bần Đạo phải chịu 3 tháng nơi chốn tịch mịch, để cầu khẩn với Đức Chí Tôn ban hồng ân đặc biệt đặng cứu rỗi lấy họ, là đem cơ quan cứu khổ của Ngài đã thiệt hiện cho toàn thể nhơn loại nhứt là sắc dân yêu ái đồng chủng cùng Bần Đạo là sắc dân Việt Nam. | To speak clearly, it was the course of action based on the destiny of all humanity and all the people of Vietnam that compelled me to endure three months in a place of solitude, to beseech the Supreme Being to bestow a special grace to redeem them. It was to manifest the mechanism He has for relieving suffering for all humanity, especially for the beloved people of the same race as myself, the Vietnamese people. |
| Chúng ta thử hỏi, một người tượng trưng tinh thần của một dân tộc, tinh thần đạo đức cho nước Việt Nam đã có sứ mạng đem tinh thần đạo đức ấy cứu khổ cho thiên hạ, sửa lại cái hành tàng hung ác của người đời cho thành giọt nước Thiêng liêng của Đức Chí Tôn, nước Thiêng liêng đạo đức của Ngài gội rửa con đường Thánh Đức cho sạch sẽ đừng cho nhơ bẩn, ấy là nước chí thánh của Ngài, cầm giọt cam lồ đem rưới khắp toàn thể con cái của Ngài tức là cả chúng sanh nơi mặt địa cầu nầy, người ấy còn phải làm thế nào hơn? | Let us ask ourselves: a person who symbolizes the spirit of a nation, the moral spirit for Vietnam, who has the mission to use that moral spirit to relieve the suffering of the people, to correct the wicked actions of the people of this world and transform them with the Sacred Water of the Supreme Being—the holy, moral water that washes clean the Path of Sacred Virtue, leaving it unblemished, which is His most holy water; who holds a drop of amrita to sprinkle upon all His children, meaning all sentient beings on this earth—what more must that person do? |
| Ôi! Cái cao vọng buổi nầy ai cũng muốn làm, được hay chăng không phải do quyền của mình, kẻ xin thì khác, mà kẻ cho lại khác. | Oh! It is a lofty aspiration that everyone in this age wishes to fulfill. But whether it is achieved or not is not within one’s own power. The one who asks is different from the one who gives. |
| Hại thay, tạo nghiệp của nhơn loại từ khi có nơi mặt địa cầu nầy, đến bao giờ mới bảo vệ được sanh mạng của họ, cấp tiến trong con đường giải khổ, họ đã gây thêm trong sự nghiệp của họ tội chướng thì nhiều, mà phúc hậu lại ít, biểu sao không có trường lưu huyết!. | Alas, the karma humanity has created since its time on this earth—when will it ever be possible for them to protect their own lives and advance on the path of relieving suffering? They have created much karmic hindrance in their affairs, and little merit. How then can there not be fields of bloodshed! |
| Nếu chúng ta dở lịch sử ra xem từ năm mươi năm nay, khởi đầu thế kỷ hai mươi dĩ chí đến 1951, không buổi nào nhơn loại hưởng đặng hanh phúc hòa bình, chỉ tương tàn tương sát với nhau mà thôi. | If we open the book of history and look from fifty years ago, from the beginning of the twentieth century up to 1951, at no time has humanity enjoyed peace and happiness; there has only been mutual destruction and slaughter. |
| Nếu không có quyền năng Thiêng Liêng kia thì Bần Đạo nói quả quyết rằng: Không ai cứu chữa tội tình nhơn loại được. | Without that Divine Power, I say with conviction: no one can cure the sinfulness of humanity. |
| Chúng ta thương nhơn loại không bằng cha sanh ra con đã sanh họ ra vừa hình thể, vừa linh hồn tức là Đại Từ Phụ. | Our love for humanity cannot compare to that of the Father who gave them birth, who created both their physical forms and their souls, that is, the Great and Merciful Father. |
| Ngài đã cầm quyền sanh mạng của nhơn loại mà không cứu chữa tội tình của nhơn loại được, phải chịu khoanh tay ngồi để lụy, vì căn quả của nhơn loại đã định vậy. | He who holds the power over the lives of humanity still cannot cure their sinfulness; He must fold His arms and weep, because the karmic law of humanity has been so decreed. |
| Chính mình Đức Chí Tôn cũng không phương sửa cải, nếu có phương sửa cải, thì không cần gì Bần Đạo phải vào Trí Huệ Cung cầu khẩn, Ngài đã làm trước rồi. | Even the Supreme Being Himself has no way to change it. If He had a way, there would have been no need for me to enter the Palace of Wisdom to beseech Him; He would have already done it. |
| May thay! Nhờ đạo tâm của toàn Thánh Thể của Ngài và toàn con cái nam, nữ cũng vậy, nhứt là đám thiếu niên đã làm cho cảm động Đức Chí Tôn, nên Ngài cho Bần Đạo hội diện cùng quyền năng thiêng liêng 4 phen trong 3 tháng. | Fortunately! Thanks to the devotion of His entire Divine Body and all His children, men and women alike, especially the youth, the Supreme Being was moved. Thus, He allowed me to meet with the divine power four times in three months. |
| Bần Đạo nói rằng: Cái định mệnh của nhơn loại, cũng như cái định mạng của toàn thể quốc dân Việt Nam, trong giờ phút nầy ở trong tay Đức Chí Tôn và Bần Đạo dám quả quyết rằng: Luật nhơn quả của nhơn loại chưa hết thì chưa tạo hạnh phúc được. | I say that the destiny of humanity, as well as the destiny of the entire Vietnamese people, at this moment lies in the hands of the Supreme Being. And I dare affirm that as long as the law of karma of humanity is not yet exhausted, happiness cannot be created. |
| Cái mơ vọng của thiên hạ đạt đặng cùng chăng là khi nào khối Thánh đức của họ cao hơn phàm tâm của họ, thì giờ phút ấy hạnh phúc của họ mới có, và cơ quan cứu khổ của Đức Chí Tôn mới thiệt hiện được. | Whether the aspiration of the people can be achieved or not depends on when their collective Sacred Virtue surpasses their mundane minds. Only at that moment will their happiness exist, and only then can the mechanism of the Supreme Being for relieving suffering be realized. |
