Bần Đạo lấy làm hân hạnh hưởng cái nghĩa, cái hiếu của toàn thể mấy anh em vì Đạo, vì chủng tộc nước nhà mà mấy em đã hy sinh lập một danh thể cao trọng dường ấy. Nếu chúng ta là một thường nhân có thể hãnh diện nói rằng: Cái tương lai của nước Việt Nam hay là tình trạng đương nhiên về danh giá buổi nầy của nước Việt Nam là do bàn tay của toàn thể Quân đội Cao Đài đào tạo, điều đó chẳng sai chút nào hết, công cuộc đã xây dựng nên tướng diện ngày nay đầu tiên hết là Quân đội Cao Đài. An ordinary person could proudly say that the future of Vietnam, and indeed its current honorable state, was forged by the hands of the entire Cao Đài Army. That would not be wrong in the slightest. The entity that first built up our present condition was the Cao Đài Army.
Có thể nói rằng: Công nghiệp của Quân đội Cao Đài trước sau đều tương liên với nhau một cách mật thiết rõ rệt, điều nầy chẳng cần phải khen hay để lời phủ huấn. It can be said that the achievements of the Cao Đài Army have always been intimately and clearly interconnected. This requires no praise or official commendation.
Các cấp chỉ huy Sĩ quan quân đội đều lập được đại công về cái trách vụ hơn hết, chỉ nghĩa là toàn thể Quân đội Cao Đài biết cái trách vụ cao thượng của mình, cái trách vụ thiêng liêng đặng nâng cao cây cờ Bảo Sanh Nhơn Nghĩa Đại Đồng cho nó có nhân nghĩa thiệt tướng cho cả thảy người trong nước, ngoại bang nghe được cũng phải trầm trồ khen ngợi. The commanding Officers of the army have all performed great deeds regarding their foremost duty, which is that the entire Cao Đài Army understands its noble responsibility, its sacred responsibility, to raise high the banner of \”Bảo Sanh Nhơn Nghĩa Đại Đồng\” (Preserving Life, Righteousness, and Great Unity) so that it may have true righteousness and meaning, that all people in the country and in foreign nations who hear of it must marvel and praise.
Vả chăng, nơi mặt thế gian nầy có hai mặt Luật, một là năng lực vô quyền, hai là năng lực quốc pháp. Furthermore, in this world there are two aspects of Law: one is the power of might, the other is the power of national law.
Bần Đạo giải cái tồn tại của xã hội nhơn quần nơi mặt địa cầu nầy, dầu muốn dầu không cũng phải tranh đấu, vì mặt luật tranh đấu của xã hội nhơn quần buộc phải có một lá cờ võ lực đặng định quyền của mình, hay là về năng luật tinh thần đạo đức, nhưng về năng lực tinh thần đạo đức Bần Đạo không cần gì minh tả mà cả thảy cũng đều biết. I will explain that for human society to survive on this earth, it must struggle, whether it wants to or not. For the law of struggle in human society requires a banner of military force to establish its authority. The other power is that of the moral spirit. But concerning the power of the moral spirit, I need not describe it for you all to know it.
Cả thảy hai điều đã nói trên đây, không phải các Quốc gia nơi mặt địa cầu nầy có hạnh phúc hưởng được cả hai bao giờ. Regarding the two aspects mentioned above, the nations on this earth are never fortunate enough to have both.
Nếu được điều nầy thì mất điều kia, chỉ được một trong hai điều đó mà thôi, nhưng Quốc gia Việt Nam may thay được ân riêng của Đức Chí Tôn cho trọn vẹn cả hai năng lực ấy. If they obtain one, they lose the other; they can only have one of the two. But the Nation of Vietnam, fortunately, has received the special grace of the Supreme Being to possess both of these powers in their entirety.
Một là về hình thể, hai là về tinh thần đạo đức; hình thể là Quân Đội Cao Đài, tượng trưng tinh thần đạo đức là Hội Thánh, tức nhiên là Thánh Thể Đức Chí Tôn trong cửa Đạo Cao Đài. One is of the physical form, the other is of the moral spirit. The physical form is the Cao Đài Army; the symbol of the moral spirit is the Sacerdotal Council, which is the Divine Body of the Supreme Being within the gate of the Cao Đài Religion.
Hai điều đó, chúng ta phải cố gìn giữ làm thể nào cho đi đôi với nhau, ăn một nhịp mới có thể định vận mạng tương lai cho nước Việt Nam được bằng để sơ xuất, mất đi rồi thì rất có hại, về điều đó Bần Đạo coi chừng hết sức vì từ trước đến giờ nó vẫn mâu thuẩn làm cho điều hòa không phải dễ. We must strive to preserve both, making sure they move in step and are in sync with each other, for only then can we determine the future destiny of Vietnam. If we are negligent and lose one, the harm will be great. On this matter, I am extremely vigilant, because from the beginning, they have always been in contradiction, and harmonizing them is not easy.
Cốt yếu Bần Đạo làm cho điều hòa là nâng đỡ về tinh thần đạo đức cường liệt hơn. My essential task in creating this harmony is to more strongly support the power of the moral spirit.
Bần Đạo nói cho rõ cái năng lực và võ lực chỉ nghĩa áp lực về quân khí, nó không thể định vận mạng tương lai bền bĩ được. I will state clearly that power and military force, which just means the pressure of arms, cannot determine a lasting future destiny.
Nếu nó có đủ quyền năng định được thì xã hội nhơn quần không có tương tàn tương sát với nhau như ngày nay vậy. If it had sufficient power to do so, human society would not be engaged in mutual destruction and slaughter as it is today.
Muốn định vận mạng tương lai cho nước Việt Nam, cho nhơn loại, phải có một tinh thần đạo đức cao trọng chớ không phải thâu phục thiên hạ nơi mặt địa cầu nầy bằng võ lực được. To determine the future destiny of Vietnam, of humanity, there must be a noble moral spirit; the people of this earth cannot be conquered by military force.
Bần Đạo nói: Ngày giờ kia Quốc Gia Việt Nam sẽ thâu phục thiên hạ với một tinh thần đạo đức. I say: The day will come when the Nation of Vietnam will win over the people of the world with a moral spirit.
Ấy vậy, cái tu chỉnh về tinh thần đạo đức mà một điều tối yếu tối trọng hơn hết. Therefore, the rectification of the moral spirit is the most essential and most important thing.
Vì cớ cho nên Bần Đạo chịu 3 tháng nơi Trí Huệ Cung, tuy không thấy gì hết, nhưng thật là ảnh hưởng mạnh mẽ lắm, rồi đây bên Quân Đội sẽ thấy điều đó. It is for this reason that I spent three months in the Palace of Wisdom. Although you did not see anything, its influence was truly very strong. The Army will see this soon enough.
Nhưng hôm qua đây khi Bần Đạo nghĩ mình là Giáo Chủ Cao Đài sao không đi thăm viếng ai hết, như Đại tướng Cao Ủy Pháp đến, ai ai cũng đi thăm, đến các vị Giáo Chủ, các nền Tôn giáo cũng thế, riêng về Giáo Chủ không đi rước thăm ai hết làm cho họ để dấu hỏi. But yesterday, I thought to myself: why, as the Leader of the Cao Đài Religion, do I not visit anyone? When the French High Commissioner and General arrived, everyone went to visit him; so too did the leaders of other Religions. But this one Religious Leader does not go out to greet or visit anyone, which makes them question it.
Có phải chăng người đó tự kiêu tự đắc, tự trọng hay là người đó vô chốn tịch mịch đặng đòi cái gì? Could it be that this person is arrogant and conceited? Self-important? Or did he enter that place of solitude to demand something?
Cho cái gì? To offer something?
Mà cốt yếu của Bần Đạo là vô chốn tịch mịch đặng đợi chờ may ra được ân riêng của Đức Chí Tôn ban cho được ngó thấy, thì Bần Đạo còn ngồi ở Trí Hụê Cung nữa chớ chưa có ra đâu, cả thảy nên biết hôm qua Bần Đạo hạ mình đến thăm Tham Biện, thăm Mission. But my essential purpose for entering that place of solitude was to wait, in the hope of receiving the special grace from the Supreme Being of being able to see. Had I seen anything, I would still be sitting in the Palace of Wisdom and would not have come out. You should all know, yesterday I humbled myself to visit the Provincial Chief, to visit the Mission.
Có người nói Ông Già đó sao hạ mình một cách như thế, nhưng cao thượng lắm đó, các con rồi đây để tâm suy gẫm sẽ thấy ngộ nghĩnh lắm. Some people asked why that Old Man would humble himself in such a way, but that was a very noble act. My children, if you reflect on this later, you will find it subtle and intriguing.
Cái tương lai năng lực của mình là tranh đấu, Bần Đạo trông mong và sở vọng tín nhiệm trong tay Quân Đội Cao Đài. Our future power is in the struggle. I place my hopes, my aspirations, and my trust in the hands of the Cao Đài Army.
Vậy hình thể và tinh thần đôi bên tương liên với nhau, yêu ái với nhau, biết giữ mặt luật công bình của Đức Chí Tôn đã để hai cái đó mà thực hiện đúng vậy thì không có quyền hành hay huyền diệu nào dời cho nổi với năng lực của Cao Đài. Thus, if the physical form and the spirit are interconnected, love each other, and know how to keep the just Law that the Supreme Being has laid down, and implement it correctly, then no power or miracle can move the power of Caodaism.
Ấy vậy nên hư, đặng thất là do trong tay toàn thể chiến binh Quân Đội Cao Đài. Therefore, success or failure, gain or loss, lies in the hands of all the warriors of the Cao Đài Army.
