| Nếu như chúng ta tin về đạo đức, chúng ta nói rằng có thể tin về mê tín, thì Bần Đạo nói rằng: Không có ai thương yêu Đức Phật Thích Ca trong kiếp sống của mình hơn là Bà Nữ Đầu Sư, trong một đời của Bà, Bần Đạo tưởng thiệt là một người giữ Đạo, Bà chỉ giữ Đạo của Đức Phật Thích Ca mà thôi. | If we believe in virtue and you say that one might as well believe in superstition, then I say this: There was no one who loved the Buddha Shakyamuni more in her life than the Female Cardinal. Throughout her life, I truly think she was a keeper of the Way. She kept only the Way of the Buddha Shakyamuni. |
| Khi Đức Chí Tôn đến mở Đạo, Bà theo chân của Đức Chí Tôn đã đành, không ai dại khờ gì khi người đã có tâm Đạo mà còn mơ hồ e lệ sự chọn lựa của mình, nhưng Đức Chí Tôn là khác, mà kính trọng thờ phượng Đức Thích Ca đối với Bà Nữ Đầu Sư là khác, huống chi trọn cái gia đình từ mẹ dĩ chí Bà đều thờ phượng một cách rất tôn nghiêm, dám chắc phần nhiều không có ai thờ phượng được như cả gia tộc của Bà đã thờ phượng Đức Thích Ca. | When the Supreme Being came to open the Way, it was only natural that she followed the footsteps of the Supreme Being; no one with a heart for the Way would be so foolish as to be vague or hesitant in their choice. But the Supreme Being is one thing, and the reverence and worship of the Shakyamuni Buddha for the Female Cardinal is another. Moreover, her entire family, from her mother to herself, worshipped Him with great solemnity. I dare say that few have ever worshipped the Shakyamuni Buddha as her entire clan did. |
| Luận tới đây tôi nghĩ ngày này đáng lẽ nếu nói rằng nước Việt Nam chủng tộc ta có thể thờ Đức Phật Thích Ca nhiều hơn hết, nhưng đến Đại Lễ này nếu không tưởng niệm đến Đức Thích Ca đi nữa là cũng còn đoái đến tình của Bà Nữ Đầu Sư mà dòm lại Phái Nữ trong Đại Lễ thấy lơ thơ, có phải vô tình chăng? Hay là Đạo của Phật Thích Ca và công nghiệp của Bà Nữ Đầu Sư bị có cơn mưa rồi lạnh ngắt, đã lạnh trước rồi bị trận mưa nữa nó lạnh luôn. | Reflecting on this, I think that on this day, it should be said that our Vietnamese race could be the one that worships the Shakyamuni Buddha the most. Yet, at this Great Ceremony, even if one does not commemorate the Shakyamuni Buddha, one should at least consider one’s affection for the Female Cardinal and look at the Female Side, only to see it sparsely populated. Is this unintentional? Or have the Way of the Buddha Shakyamuni and the merits of the Female Cardinal become chilled by a rain shower—already cold, and then hit by another downpour, making them permanently cold? |
| Bần Đạo xin nói thật, Đức Phật Thích Ca, dầu sự trị thế của Ngài đã hết, chúng ta chỉ nói là hết thôi. Hai ngàn năm trăm năm (2.500) lập Đạo trên cõi Thiêng Liêng Hằng Sống kia, Môn đệ của Ngài nhiều lắm, các người đừng tưởng Ông già ăn mày ấy không đủ quyền năng, mà các người khi dễ. | I will speak truthfully: The Buddha Shakyamuni—although His reign has ended, we only say it has ended. After two thousand five hundred (2,500) years of establishing the Way, in that Divine Realm of Eternal Life, His disciples are numerous. You all must not think that old beggar lacks power and so look down upon him. |
| Nội cái Bình Bát Vu của Ông đựng cả chơn hồn trong Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ, Ông ăn mày tại thế này vậy mà ngôi vị Cực Lạc Thế Giới của Ông các người xin một phẩm Liên Hoa, Ông có thể cho, là một người không nên khi dễ, không nên nguội lạnh với người đó, bởi vì Môn đệ của Ngài trên cõi Thiêng Liêng Hằng Sống nhiều lắm. | The alms bowl of that Man holds all the souls of the Universe. He may be a beggar in this world, yet from his seat in the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss, if you ask for a Lotus grade, He can grant it. He is not someone to be looked down upon, not someone to be cold towards, because His disciples in the Divine Realm of Eternal Life are many. |
| Bà Nữ Đầu Sư hồi còn tại thế này cũng vậy, hay về cõi Thiêng Liêng cũng vậy thương em lắm, thương phái nữ lắm, Bà binh vực bảo trọng từ khi mới mở Đạo, biết bao phen Đức Lý Giáo Tông đã phẫn nộ, chính mình Bần Đạo cũng không thế binh vực được mà còn có thể ghét nữa mà chớ. Duy có một mình chị binh vực bảo trọng phái nữ còn tồn tại đến ngày nay, bằng không thì bị phế rồi, bị Đức Lý phế rồi đó. | The Female Cardinal, when she was in this world and also now in the Divine Realm, loved her younger sisters very much; she loved the female side greatly. She defended and protected them from the very beginning of the Way. So many times, the Venerable Pope Ly was angered, and even I myself could not defend them and might even have come to resent them. Only she alone defended and protected the female side so that it has survived to this day. Otherwise, it would have been abolished; it would have been abolished by the Venerable Ly. |
| Bần Đạo nói thật mấy chị, Ôi! Không phải kiếp sanh dễ gì ngộ Đạo, Bần Đạo đã chán biết khó khăn kiếp sống của mình tại thế bao giờ cũng vậy, nó làm cho mình nặng nề khổ não về tinh thần, nhưng chúng ta đem lên mặt cân thiêng liêng, chúng ta lấy trí khôn ngoan để suy đoán cho cùng, chúng ta phải lấy trí khôn ngoan công chánh mà phán đoán, phần nào xác là xác, phần nào hồn là hồn, cái xác thịt nó không phải ở đây cho đến lúc tận thế đa nghe. | I speak truthfully to you sisters, oh! If not for this life’s incarnation, how could one encounter the Way? I am well aware of how difficult my life in this world has been, always making my spirit heavy and sorrowful. But if we place it on the divine scale, if we use our wisdom to reason things out to their conclusion, we must use our just wisdom to judge. The part that is the body is the body, the part that is the soul is the soul. The fleshly body is not here to stay until the end of the world, do you hear? |
| Kiếp sống tại thế gian này của mấy người không mấy lát, cao trọng cần yếu hay chăng là phần hồn, đừng sa xuống Địa Ngục đừng xuống đó là hơn hết. Xuống cửa đó rồi khó giải thoát lắm, khó giải thoát lắm đa nghe. Còn phần xác thì xác, hồn là hồn, mình lấy cái trí não của mình, lấy cái trung dung của mình làm sao cho Đạo có công chánh, hòa bình, xác cũng vậy, hồn cũng vậy. | Your life in this world is but a fleeting moment. What is noble and essential is the soul part. Do not let it descend to Hell. Not descending there is best of all. Once you go through that gate, it is very difficult to be liberated, very difficult to be liberated, do you hear? As for the body part, the body is the body, the soul is the soul. Use your mind, use your sense of balance to ensure that the Way has justice and peace, for the body as well as for the soul. |
| Chỉnh cầm cân giữ mực thước làm sao cho xác thế nào, thì phần hồn kia cũng vậy, đừng trọng bên này, phụ bên kia, là khôn ngoan hơn hết. | Hold the scale and maintain the standard so that however the body is treated, the soul part is treated the same. Do not favor one side and neglect the other; that is the greatest wisdom. |
| Còn một cái trọng yếu hơn nữa là phải nhớ luôn luôn phụng sự Đức Chí Tôn, công nghiệp ấy không bao giờ mất, bởi Ông già đó chẵng chịu thiếu nợ ai hết, trái lại nếu chúng ta có phương thế lập vị chúng ta rồi mà chúng ta còn dư thừa công nghiệp đối với Ngài. | There is another, more important thing: you must always remember to serve the Supreme Being. That meritorious deed will never be lost, because that Old Man refuses to be indebted to anyone. On the contrary, if we have the means to establish our own position, we will still have a surplus of merit with Him. |
| Nhớ lại trong Cửu Huyền Thất Tổ của ta chưa chắc họ đều siêu thoát đặng, để chút của cải ấy đặng độ họ, tội nghiệp biết đâu trong Cửu Huyền Thất Tổ của mỗi đứa ta lại không có người ở dưới Phong Đô, rán tiện tặng chút đỉnh cho có của cải Thiêng Liêng cho họ hưởng mới khỏi uổng kiếp sanh của mình. | Remember, among our Nine Generations and Seven Ancestors, it is not certain that they have all been elevated. Leave a little of that spiritual treasure to help them. Out of pity, who knows if among the Nine Generations and Seven Ancestors of each of us, there is not someone in Phong Đô [the Underworld]. Try to save a little of that spiritual treasure for them to enjoy, so that your life’s incarnation is not in vain. |
| Đức Chí Tôn có nói: “Đài Vân Quan Võ để Phong Thần, Còn của Thầy đây để nhắc cân, Muôn đức ngàn lành không sót một, Bao nhiêu công quả bấy nhiêu phần”. |
The Supreme Being has said: “The Cloud Terrace for Martial Lords is reserved for the ‘Investiture of the Gods, But what is Mine is for balancing the scales. Ten thousand virtues and a thousand good deeds, none will be missed, For however much merit, there is a corresponding reward.” |
| Đấng đó không biết thiếu nợ ai hết và đã nói chẳng hề khi nào sai lời. Đã ngộ Đạo, đã biết Đạo, đã theo chân Đức Chí Tôn mà không biết tự mình tìm phương giải thoát, dầu chúng ta không mong mỏi cứu độ Cửu Huyền Thất Tổ đi nữa, cũng mong mỏi tự giải thoát cho mình là trọng yếu hơn hết, biết Đạo mà nguội lạnh tốt hơn hết đừng có ở trong cửa Đạo, tốt hơn đừng ngồi trong cửa Đạo, ngồi nữa thêm tội không ích gì. | That Being does not know how to be indebted to anyone, and He has never gone back on His word. To have encountered the Way, to know the Way, to follow the footsteps of the Supreme Being, and yet not to know how to seek one’s own liberation… Even if we do not hope to save our Nine Generations and Seven Ancestors, we must at least hope to liberate ourselves. That is of the utmost importance. To know the Way and be lukewarm—it is better not to be in the gate of the Way, better not to sit in the gate of the Way. To sit there any longer only adds to one’s sins and brings no benefit. |
| Thử chúng ta để dấu hỏi chúng ta tu đây trông mong cái gì? Đừng như kẻ mờ hồ kia mà Đức Chí Tôn đã để : “Ngồi lì mà đợi Lý Ngưng Vương, Biểu xuống thuyền Tiên nói chẹt lườn. Co cẳng muốn vào rồi lại thụt, Biểu thương sao đặng buộc người thương?” |
Let us ask ourselves, why are we cultivating here? What do we hope for? Do not be like the bewildered ones of whom the Supreme Being wrote: “They sit stubbornly waiting for Immortal Lý to descend, When told to board the Immortal boat, they complain it is too narrow. They lift a leg to enter, then pull it back again, When they ask for love, how can they compel one to love them?” |
| Thử xét lộn lại một ngày kia, mấy người về cõi Thiêng Liêng mà ngó thấy tôi đứng giữa không trung đó, mấy người kêu tôi biểu Ông cứu độ tôi, vì hồi đó tôi có gặp Ông tại thế, thì bây giờ Ông cứu độ tôi với – tình trạng đó tôi biết trả lời với mấy người làm sao chớ? | Let’s re-examine: one day, if you all return to the Divine Realm and see me standing there in the middle of space, and you call out to me, “Save me, Sir, because I met you in the world, so please save me now”—in that situation, what could I possibly say in reply to you? |
| Có thể một ngày kia tôi sẽ dâng sớ cho Đức Lý lập một hình phạt, hình phạt của tôi ngộ nghỉnh lắm: Không cho phái nữ đi vô Đền Thánh một thời gian, hành lễ ngoài sân một thời gian, bằng xin không được nữa, thì không khi nào lên Chức Sắc Thiên Phong được với tôi mà chớ. | Perhaps one day I will submit a petition to the Venerable Ly to establish a punishment. My punishment will be a very peculiar one: for a period of time, the female side will not be allowed into the Great Divine Temple. They will perform their rites in the courtyard for a time. And if that request is not granted, then they will never be able to rise to the rank of a Divinely Ordained Dignitary with me. |
