| Đêm nay Bần Đạo giảng về sự khó khăn của Đạo tâm, chúng ta phải đương đầu với Phàm tánh. | Tonight, I will preach on the difficulty of the Devotional Heart (Đạo tâm) as we must confront the Profane Nature (Phàm tánh). |
| Tiếng Đạo tâm Bần Đạo đã giải rõ, Tiên Nho chúng ta khi trước không có lấy tiếng chi mà tả được cái huyền bí Tạo Đoan nên đã dùng tiếng “Tâm” chỉ vật vô hình ấy gọi là: “Cường danh viết Đạo”. | I have already explained the term “Devotional Heart” clearly. Our ancient Confucian sages, unable to find a word to describe the Mystery of Creation, used the word “Heart” (Tâm) to refer to that formless thing, saying: “That which is forcibly named is called the Way.” |
| Mượn danh ấy đặng chỉ vật vô hình mà thôi, thật sự Đức Chí Tôn đã đến giải rằng chữ “Tâm” thiên hạ đã dùng để chỉ cái Nguơn linh của chúng ta đó vậy. | They borrowed that name only to point to the formless. In truth, the Supreme Being came and explained that the word “Heart” that the world used was to refer to our Original Soul (Nguơn linh). |
| Cái Nguơn linh là Tâm thuộc về Đạo, là cả cơ quan tạo đoan của Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ, cái bí mật đã sanh sanh hóa hóa, vạn linh tức là nguyên linh của chúng ta, đời cũng huyền bí của Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ | The Original Soul is the Heart which belongs to the Way; it is the entire mechanism of creation of the Universe, the mystery of continuous generation and transformation. All Souls, that is, our original souls, are also a mystery of the Universe. |
| hễ chúng ta đã nói rằng: Nguơn linh của chúng ta thì hai tiếng Nguơn linh ấy, chúng ta đã tầm hiểu do Đấng Chí Linh sản xuất, mà xuất nơi Đấng Chí Linh tức nhiên nó là một phần tử vạn linh và nó đã xuất hiện trong Chí Linh mà ra, tức nhiên cả cơ quan Tạo đoan của Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ nó đã có một phần tử nơi đấy | When we say “our Original Soul,” we understand those two words to mean that it was produced by the Supreme Soul. And being produced by the Supreme Soul means it is a part of the All Souls, and it has emerged from within the Supreme Soul. This means it possesses a part of the entire creative mechanism of the Universe. |
| hễ chúng ta đã nói rằng nó có thể suy đoán cơ thể chủ quyền của Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ, thì chúng ta có thể nói rằng: Nó có thể làm chủ cả cơ thể tạo đoan nơi mặt địa cầu này. | If we say that it can comprehend the sovereign mechanism of the Universe, then we can also say: It can be the master of the entire creative mechanism on the face of this earth. |
| Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ vĩ đại thế nào thì cái nguyên linh của ta nó cũng phải đạt đặng nguơn linh nó mới chịu, vì cớ cho nên Bần Đạo đã thường nói cái tương lai của loài người họ sẽ đi đến mục đích làm chủ tạo đoan Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ nơi mặt thế hữu hình này, hay họ sẽ làm Ông Trời tại thế này đó vậy. | As great as the Universe is, so must our original soul attain that greatness before it is satisfied. That is why I have often said that the future of humanity is that they will proceed towards the goal of being the master of the creative universe in this visible world, or they will become God in this world. |
| Hễ nói rằng có tánh chất Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ thì phải quảng đại bao la, có thể tạo đoan vĩ đại thế nào thì nguơn linh của chúng ta phải vĩ đại như thế ấy, Càn Khôn Vũ Trụ huyền bí thế nào, cái nguơn linh của chúng ta phải nương theo huyền bí ấy thế đấy. | If we say it has the nature of the Universe, then it must be vast and immense. As great as the creative power of the Universe is, so great must our original soul be. As mysterious as the Universe is, so must our original soul follow that same mystery. |
| Bởi vậy cho nên, nó tự biết phạm vi nó là Trời, nó thấy cả sự đau khổ của nhơn loại đã chịu, nó đã biết cái đau khổ của nó, mà nó hoài bão cám cảnh yêu đương kính trọng cái khổ của thiên hạ, khổ của toàn thể nhơn loại | Therefore, it knows its own scope is Heaven. It sees all the suffering that humanity has endured; it knows its own suffering, and it embraces, sympathizes with, loves, and respects the suffering of the world, the suffering of all humankind. |
| nó biết cái sống của nó rằng khổ, nó phải thương cái sống của thiên hạ, nó biết cái giả của nó khổ, nó phải thương cái giả của thiên hạ, nó biết bịnh của nó là khổ, nó phải thương cái bịnh của thiên hạ, nó biết cái chết của nó là khổ nó phải thương cái chết của thiên hạ. | It knows that its life is suffering, so it must love the life of the world. It knows its falsehood is suffering, so it must love the falsehood of the world. It knows its sickness is suffering, so it must love the sickness of the world. It knows its death is suffering, so it must love the death of the world. |
| Cái tánh chất Nguơn linh của chúng ta, tức nhiên Đạo Tâm của chúng ta đây vậy, nó phải quyền năng chủ định của nó, nó phải có quyền năng làm chúa cái sở năng của nó | The nature of our Original Soul is our Devotional Heart. Its power must be its own master; it must have the power to be lord of its own abilities. |
| nó có thể cải được cái quyền lực của quả kiếp Luân hồi, nó có thể sửa cải đặng đạt cơ giải thoát đặng định chủ lấy nó. Ấy vậy cái Đạo Tâm của ta là thế đấy. | It can change the power of the karmic cycle of reincarnation; it can reform itself to achieve the mechanism of liberation and become its own master. Such is our Devotional Heart. |
| Bao giờ phàm tánh là vật tánh vẫn hoài bão tánh chất thú của nó, mỗi sự chi làm cho nó phải ham muốn, vừa ý thích của nó theo cái năng lực của nó mạnh mẽ thể nào nó thấy được sắc đẹp nó ham, nó mê. | The profane nature, which is the material nature, always embraces its animalistic qualities. Everything that causes it desire, that pleases its tastes according to the strength of its power—when it sees beauty, it desires it, it is infatuated. |
| Nó nghe được một tiếng thanh tao nó biết muốn nó biết mê mẫn, nó nghe được mùi vị thơm tho ngon ngọt nó biết ham ăn, ham ngửi, nó thấy một cái địa vị sang trọng, nó biết giục tâm chiếm đoạt cho đặng | When it hears a sublime sound, it knows to want it, it knows to be entranced. When it smells a fragrant, sweet scent, it knows to crave food, to crave the smell. When it sees a position of high standing, it knows to incite its heart to seize it. |
| rồi nó dùng đủ phương pháp đòi hỏi cả tinh thần nó đem ra thi thố mâu thuẩn đoạt được sở vọng nó, nó ham muốn phú quí, giàu sang trên mặt địa cầu này, cái vật hình dù đã làm cho nó kích thích, nó lấy cả tinh thần làm năng lực nó làm sao đạt đặng | Then it uses every method, calling upon its entire spirit to compete and contradict in order to achieve its aspirations. It desires wealth and luxury on this earth. The material form stimulates it, and it uses all its spirit as a force to achieve its desires. |
| có nhiều khi trước cảnh ngộ ấy, chúng ta ngó thấy đời đạo đang tương đối cùng nhau. Một bên Đạo tâm giải quyết thắng Phàm tánh, mà hại thay! Không thể dễ gì thắng. | We see that sometimes, in this situation, the world and the way are in opposition. On one side, the Devotional Heart resolves to overcome the Profane Nature, but alas! It is not at all easy to win. |
| Tiên Nho của chúng ta đã nói trước một đạo binh có thể thắng một trận giặc muôn binh kia, mà ta thắng với phàm tánh của ta rất khó, không thể đoán đặng. | Our ancient Confucian sages have said that an army can win a battle against ten thousand soldiers, but for us to win against our own profane nature is very difficult; the outcome cannot be predicted. |
| Nếu chúng ta thắng được phàm tánh chúng ta, cái Đạo tâm chúng ta đủ năng lực thắng đặng tức nhiên là cái cơ quan tự giác chúng ta đạt đặng. | If we can conquer our profane nature, if our Devotional Heart has sufficient power to win, then it means we have attained the mechanism of self-enlightenment. |
| Đạt được năng lực tự giác ta, ta mới có thể giác thiên hạ, tức nhiên thức tỉnh toàn thể thiên hạ tự giác, giác nhi giác tha là thế ấy. | Only when we attain the power of self-enlightenment can we enlighten the world; that is, to awaken all of the world to self-enlightenment. “Enlighten oneself to enlighten others” (giác nhi giác tha) is just that. |
| Phương pháp tự giác nhà Phật, Đức Chúa Jésus Christ hay các vì Giáo Chủ đã tìm cái bí quyết ấy chuyển cả các bí mật của các nền Tôn Giáo. | The method of self-enlightenment of the Buddhist school, of the Lord Jesus Christ, or of the various Religion Founders who found that secret, transformed all the mysteries of the religions. |
| Chữ tu ta để dấu hỏi, cái thực hành tiếng tu của thiên hạ đã tìm cái cơ quan tự giác ấy họ đã đặng chưa, cả thảy chúng ta đều để dấu hỏi mờ hồ, nếu toàn thể thiên hạ đạt đặng cơ quan bí pháp tự giác ấy, thì Bần Đạo dám chắc nơi thế gian này cả thảy thiên hạ là Thánh, mà giờ phút này họ Phàm, thì Bần Đạo nói có một phần thiểu số đạt đặng chớ không phải cả toàn thể thiên hạ đạt đặng. | We pose the question about the word “cultivation.” The world’s practice of the word “cultivation”—have they attained that mechanism of self-enlightenment yet? We all leave a vague question mark. If all the people of the world had attained that secret mechanism of self-enlightenment, then I dare say that everyone in this world would be a Saint. But at this moment, they are Profane. So I say that only a small minority have attained it, not all of the world. |
| Đức Chí Tôn đã đến, Ngài chỉ Bí Pháp có một điều là: Các con không cần tìm kiếm triết lý cao siêu hơn nữa, các con tìm kiếm cái sống của toàn thể bạn đồng sinh của các con, rồi kỉnh trọng phụng sự cái sống ấy. | The Supreme Being has come. He has pointed out a Secret Dharma with one simple thing: “My children, you need not seek any higher philosophy. You need only seek the life of all your fellow beings, and then respect and serve that life. |
| Hễ các con tận tâm phụng sự cái sống của Vạn Linh, thì cơ quan giải thoát của các con, Thầy đã để nơi tay của các con đó vậy. | If you devote yourselves to serving the life of the All Souls, then the mechanism of your liberation, I have already placed it in your hands.” |
