Thưa chư Chức Sắc Thiên Phong nam nữ, Chư Viên Quan nam nữ đã có lòng hạ cố đến dự lễ làm cho càng thêm long trọng cái lễ phát phần thưởng cho mấy em học sinh. Thầy đã thường nói và Thầy đã tự nghĩ, nếu như Thầy không có giao nơi tay của các con một cái câu Bảo Sanh Nhơn Nghĩa đặng bảo vệ cho Tổ Quốc, binh vực đoàn em của các con được sống còn và đem vào cửa Đạo, vì cửa Đạo là một cửa Thiêng Liêng Hằng Sống, một cửa để cứu khổ, một cửa để giải mê cho thiên hạ, thử coi mặt luật ấy nó như thế nào, các con thử nghĩ, cái lẽ bất công của thế gian đương buổi hôm nay, họ đang dùng cái mạnh hiếp yếu, lấy cái khôn chê cái dại, họ đã nương nơi quyền lực nào? Phải chăng họ đã nương cái quyền lực của quân đội mà làm những điều đáng tiếc ấy. Is it not so that they rely on the power of the army to do such regrettable things?
Thầy đã nói các con chưa hiểu thấu, vậy Thầy chỉ cho các con hiểu theo lối văn minh Âu Châu đã nói “Bras séculier”. Còn văn minh của Á Đông thì dùng thủ đoạn nầy. Quân đội của các nước phụng sự cho nhơn loại về chơn lý thì ít, còn về cái áp bức tâm tánh thì nhiều. I have said it before, but perhaps you did not fully understand. Nếu trong lúc đó có kẻ khó tánh họ đã trích điểm và họ cho rằng ta không đáng đứng giữa xã hội với họ. Let us think about our own society. Một lẻ nữa một kẻ sát nhơn kia nó chỉ giết có một người mà cái luật công chánh của xã hội đã buộc đem nó ra Tòa công lý, buộc nó phải thường mạng. Rồi hỏi lại những kẻ đã giết người nơi mặt trận hằng hà sa số mà được thăng phẩm vị và tôn trọng, đem vào xã hội họ đứng trên đầu thiên hạ, cả ngực của họ đầy những biểu hiệu danh dự. Hỏi vậy cái công chánh, công bình của xã hội đương nhiên ở chỗ nào? Như vậy thì chưa phải xã hội của nhơn loại. On another note, a murderer who kills only one person is brought before the court of justice by the laws of society and forced to forfeit his life in compensation. Then, what about those who have killed countless people on the battlefield, who are then promoted and honored, and who, upon re-entering society, stand at the head of all others, their chests covered in medals of honor? Where, then, is the justice and equity of our current society? A society like that is not a society of humankind.
Trái ngược lụng lại xã hội như thế nó là thù nghịch của nhơn loại mà chớ, vì lẽ ấy mà Thầy đã hãnh diện cho các con, Thầy được vui, được hãnh diện giao cho các con cầm giềng Bảo Sanh Nhơn Nghĩa đem nhơn loại chiến đấu, chiến đấu của các con về mặt tinh thần, chớ không phải về mặt danh, vì lợi và tàn sát một cách vô lý vô nhân đạo cả sanh mạng của loài người đó vậy. On the contrary, a society like that is an enemy of humankind. It is for this reason that I am proud of you. I am happy and proud to entrust you with holding the reins of “Bảo Sanh Nhơn Nghĩa,” to bring humankind to a struggle, your struggle on the spiritual front, not for the sake of fame or profit, and not for the irrational and inhumane slaughter of human lives.
Các con bên Giáo Chức, các con đã lãnh sứ mạng tạo tinh thần tương lai cho nòi giống của các con. Thầy rất hài lòng về việc đó, các con nên cố gắng thêm lên chút nữa. You who are teachers, you have received the mission of creating the future spirit of your race. I am very pleased with this work. Please strive to do even a little more.
Bần Đạo nhớ lại khi mới mở Đạo có một vị Giáo Chức đến dâng sớ vấn nạn Đức Chí Tôn, hồi Đức Chí Tôn còn xưng là A, Ă, Â. Đức Chí Tôn cho một bài thi để trả lời:
Dạy trẻ con toan trước dạy mình,
Cái công giáo hóa cũng đồng sinh,
Đạo Đời tuy biết Đời rằng trọng,
Một điểm quang minh một điểm linh.		 I recall when the Religion was just founded, a teacher came to submit a petition questioning the Supreme Being, back when the Supreme Being still called Himself A, Ă, Â. The Supreme Being gave a poem in response:
“To teach the children, first you must teach yourself,
The merit of education is also that of a co-creator,
The Temporal and Spiritual are known, though the Temporal is held to be important,
A spark of great light is also a spark of the divine.”
Đức Chí Tôn chỉ nói một điểm quang minh mà thôi. Vậy các con hãy dạy cho em các con một điểm quang minh đó. The Supreme Being spoke only of a “spark of great light.” Therefore, you should teach your younger brothers and sisters that one spark of great light.
Các con cố gắng tạo điểm quang minh ấy cho cả thiếu sinh là đoàn em của mấy con, và nó sẽ thừa kế vận mạng của Đạo, của Tổ Quốc, của nòi giống, rồi các con sẽ thấy nó không tự kiêu, tự đắc, cái hãnh diện cao thượng đó, dầu cho một kẻ nào khó tánh bao nhiêu cũng phải cúi đầu tôn tặng đó vậy. You should strive to create that spark of great light in all the young students, your younger brothers and sisters. They will inherit the destiny of the Way, of the Fatherland, and of our race. Then you will see that they will not be arrogant or self-satisfied. And this noble pride, even the most difficult-tempered person would have to bow their head in honor of.
Chính mình Bần Đạo thấy trước cái hành tàng cao thượng của các con, Thầy cũng phải cúi đầu kính mến và tôn tặng. I myself, seeing before me your noble actions, must also bow my head in respect and honor.
Thầy để lời cám ơn các con đã cho Thầy hưởng được hạnh phúc ấy. Your Teacher thanks you for letting me enjoy this happiness.
Các con học sinh nam nữ, các con ngó đoàn anh của các con, rồi các con sẽ định vận mạng tương lai của các con như thế nào? My male and female students, look at your elder brothers. What destiny will you determine for your future?
Các con đã thấy cái sống của Thầy các con trước mắt là sống eo hẹp, sống vất vả, sống đau khổ không buổi nào mà Thầy thấy cái sống của Thầy các con đặng mãi mãi hạnh phúc. You have seen the life of your Teacher before you: it is a constricted life, a hard life, a suffering life. Not a day goes by where I feel that my life is filled with lasting happiness.
Mấy con muốn trả ân ấy cho xứng đáng Thầy chỉ có một điều là mong cho các con khôn ngoan sáng suốt đặng khi ra trường lập nên thân danh làm cho rạng rỡ danh thể Thầy của các con. If you wish to repay this debt worthily, I have but one wish: that you be wise and enlightened, so that when you leave school, you can establish your reputations and bring glory to the name of your Teacher.
Một lời tâm huyết Bần Đạo để trong tâm não của mấy con đặng làm định hướng cho mấy con đó vậy. This one heartfelt message I leave in your hearts and minds to serve as your compass.
Giờ phút nầy trong đường Đạo của mấy con có hai điều trọng yếu về tinh thần là: Yêu ái và chơn thật. At this moment, on your Spiritual Path, there are two important spiritual principles: Love and Truthfulness.
Nếu các con giữ được hai điều ấy. Thầy dám chắc dầu cho gặp khó khăn trở ngại bao nhiêu trên đường tiến bước, Bần Đạo quả quyết nó sẽ cải hóa một cách dễ dàng và êm thắm. If you can uphold these two things, I am certain that no matter how many difficulties and obstacles you meet on your path of progress, they will be transformed easily and peacefully.
