I ask all the children of the Supreme Being of both contingents to be present in great numbers to attend the ceremony, in order to bring joy to his Soul. |
| Đêm nay Bần Đạo giảng cái thiệt và cái giả của quyền lợi giữa thế kỷ 20 này mà cả toàn thể nhơn loại đã bị khuẩn bách về tinh thần. | Tonight I will preach on the real and the false of power in this 20th century, in which all of humanity is under spiritual duress. |
| Thật sự, từ Thượng Cổ đến giờ, không có buổi nào nhơn loại không bị thống khổ tinh thần như hôm nay vậy. | Truly, from ancient times until now, there has never been a time when humanity has not suffered spiritual anguish as it does today. |
| Giờ phút này nơi mặt địa cầu số nhơn loại đã tăng lên quá độ, chẳng còn như buổi Thượng Cổ kia. | At this moment, the population of the earth has increased excessively; it is no longer like in the ages of ancient times. |
| Nếu ta lấy dân số từ thế kỷ thứ 3 cho đến ngày nay thì ta ngó thấy nó sắp đôi bằng hai buổi nọ, vì cớ sự sanh sống của nhơn loại trở nên khó khăn, trường hợp tranh sống của họ càng thêm náo nhiệt. | If we take the population from the 3rd century until today, we see that it has more than doubled since that time. For this reason, the survival of humankind has become difficult, and the arena of their struggle for life has become all the more intense. |
| Ta thử nghĩ một Quốc Gia đã sanh ra trong đời, con người muốn lập thân danh của mình là một điều rất khó. | We should consider that for a Nation born into this world, it is very difficult for a person to establish their reputation. |
| Chúng ta đã ngó thấy hạng lê thứ vẫn nhiều, mà hạng thượng lưu trí thức vẫn ít, luật thiên nhiên vẫn vậy. | We have seen that the common people are many, while the intellectual elite are few; this is the natural law. |
| Vì cớ cho nên trường tranh đấu đặng bảo vệ quyền lợi của họ trở nên khó khăn và nguy hiểm. | For this reason, the arena of struggle to protect their interests has become difficult and dangerous. |
| Thật, con người bao giờ cũng chạy theo quyền lợi, dầu cho một Quốc Gia hay Quốc Tế toàn thể trên mặt địa cầu này cũng vậy. | Truly, human beings always chase after power, whether as a Nation or as the International Community across the entire globe. |
| Chỉ tranh quyền lợi mà nhơn loại đã tương tàn tương sát với nhau, chúng ta lấy theo tâm lý của loài người mà luận thì chưa có buổi nào mà trình độ tâm hồn của nhơn loại đã nghiêng đổ thái quá như buổi hôm nay. | It is only for the sake of power that humankind engages in mutual slaughter. If we analyze the human psyche, there has never been a time when the moral level of humanity has declined to such an excess as today. |
| Thật tâm hồn nhơn loại đã bị sa sút xuống một mức quá thấp hèn. | Truly, the soul of humanity has degenerated to an exceedingly low and base level. |
| Vì cớ cho nên toàn cả tinh thần không còn Thánh Đức như buổi trước nữa, Tiên Nho đã có nói: “Cổ nhơn hình tợ thú, tâm hữu đại Thánh Đức; Kim nhơn biểu tợ nhơn, thú tâm an khả trắc”. |
For this reason, the entire spirit no longer possesses the Holy Virtue of previous times. The Ancient Confucian Sages once said: “Ancient people had the form of beasts, but their hearts possessed great Holy Virtue; Modern people have the appearance of humans, but their beastly hearts are unfathomable.” |
| Người cổ nhơn hình dạng xấu xa gần giống như con thú, mà tâm của họ là đại Thánh Đức và Thánh Đức của họ còn nguyên vẹn. | Ancient people had a rough appearance, almost like beasts, but their hearts were of great Holy Virtue, and their Holy Virtue remained intact. |
| Ngày hôm nay nhơn loại đẹp đẽ đáng phẩm con người, nhưng thú tâm không thể đoán xét được. | Today, human beings are beautiful, worthy of the human form, but their beastly hearts cannot be fathomed. |
| Nhứt là quyền lợi, thiên hạ đã theo dõi và mê mẫn, nếu nói cái hám vọng của họ nơi cửa quyền thì thấy rằng: | Especially with regard to power, which the world has pursued and become infatuated with. If we speak of their ambition for positions of power, we see that: |
| Trong xã hội muốn đứng đầu thiên hạ cho có tên tuổi của mình có quyền hành đặng điều khiển độc đoán là một cái khó làm hơn hết khó thiệt hiện được. | in society, wanting to be at the head of all others, to have one’s name known, to have the authority to rule as a dictator, is the most difficult thing to do, the most difficult thing to achieve. |
| Vì cớ cho nên họ không từ chối không có một phương pháp nào hèn hạ mà họ không làm, thử nghĩ chúng ta đoán xét từ cổ chí kim những quyền mà lập với phương pháp tàn ác vô nhân đạo thì ta quan sát coi có bền vững tồn tại hay chăng? | For this reason, they do not shy away from any method; there is no base method they will not use. Let us consider and judge, from ancient times to the present, all the powers that were established by cruel and inhumane methods. Let us observe: were they lasting and enduring? |
| Con người đem quyền mà thua chuộc với xương máu của người. | People use power that was bought with the flesh and blood of others. |
| Cả cái quyền hành đó nó trở lại làm một ác khí, thử hỏi những kẻ thọ hưởng nó có bền vững hay chăng? | That authority in turn becomes a weapon of evil. Let us ask: do those who enjoy it ever endure? |
| Chúng ta đã ngó thấy nào là đài Tần nào đảnh Hớn mà từ trước tới giờ trên mặt địa cầu này đã tạo dựng trên xương máu của nhân sanh, hết họ này đến họ khác làm chúa, làm vua thiên hạ thay đổi mãi không có một ngôi báu nào còn tồn tại là do chỗ nào? | We have seen the towers of Qin and the cauldrons of Han, which from ancient times until today on the face of this globe were built on the flesh and blood of the people. One dynasty after another became the lords and kings of the world, constantly changing. Why is it that not a single precious throne has endured? |
| Là do ngôi báu ấy đã mua chuộc bằng xương máu của dân, cho nên chẳng hề khi nào những kẻ thọ hưởng nó được trường cửu đặng. | It is because those thrones were bought with the blood of the people, so those who enjoyed them could never endure for long. |
| Chúng ta thử quan sát trước mắt ngó thấy những mưu mẹo những phương pháp, những trí độ, họ tìm tàng, họ làm cách nào đặng lập quyền cho họ. | Let us observe before our very eyes the schemes, the methods, the stratagems they devise, the ways they try to establish their power. |
| Rốt cuộc lại, chúng ta thấy cái hưởng của họ, nếu họ hưởng, trong cái hưởng ấy nó dành để cho họ một sự nguy hiểm chẳng khác nào trong ấy dành để cho họ một chén thuốc độc đặng tự diệt lấy họ. | In the end, we see what they enjoy. If they enjoy it, within that enjoyment is reserved for them a danger no different from a cup of poison, intended for their own self-destruction. |
| Quyền; Chúng ta thấy quyền thế nào? | Power; what kind of power do we see? |
| Giờ chúng ta kể lại sự tích của Tàu; Như Hạng Võ khi vô Bao Trung đã có lời cam kết, kẻ nào đã vô Bao Trung trước thì được làm Chúa. | Let us now recount a story from China. When Xiang Yu was to enter the Central Pass, an agreement was made that whoever entered first would become the lord. |
| Hớn Bái Công và Sở Bá Vương hai người lãnh sứ mạng đặng vô diệt Tần phục Hớn, Sở Bá Vương ỷ mạnh tới đâu đánh đó, thành thử vô Bao Trung sau Hớn Bái Công. | Liu Bang and Xiang Yu both received the mission to enter and destroy the Qin and restore the Han. Xiang Yu, relying on his strength, fought wherever he went and thus entered the Central Pass after Liu Bang. |
| Còn Hớn Bái Công chỉ lấy nhơn nghĩa mà làm thành thử thành lũy, quan ải, đều mở rộng cửa cho người vào. | Liu Bang, on the other hand, relied only on righteousness and benevolence, and so the citadels and passes all opened their gates for him to enter. |
| Đã vậy Sở Bá Vương không giữ lời hứa và kiếm lời bào chữa đày Hớn Bái Công vô Bao Trung. | Yet, Xiang Yu did not keep his promise and, finding an excuse, exiled Liu Bang to the lands beyond the Pass. |
| Rốt cuộc lại cả sự nghiệp của Hớn lấy nhân nghĩa hưởng được 800 năm. | In the end, the entire legacy of the Han, built on righteousness, was enjoyed for 800 years. |
| Còn Sở Bá Vương chỉ một đời người mà chưa hết thì đây là cái giả của Sở Bá Vương, còn cái thiệt của Hớn Bái Công là 800 năm đó vậy. | As for Xiang Yu, his did not even last a single lifetime. This, then, is the falsehood of Xiang Yu’s power, while the truth of Liu Bang’s power is those 800 years. |
| Chúng ta thử nghĩ các giả quyền đương giờ phút này mới vừa qua trận đại chiến thứ nhì như Hitler, Mussolini, Thiên Hoàng của Nhật muốn làm bá chủ với cả phương pháp cường quyền của họ. | Let us consider the false powers that have just passed in the Second World War, such as Hitler, Mussolini, and the Emperor of Japan, who wished to be masters of the world through all the methods of their tyrannical power. |
| Vì quân lực của họ có đủ cường lực muốn cho cả hoàn cầu phục lụy tôn làm bá chủ. | Because their military forces were strong enough, they wanted the entire globe to submit and honor them as masters. |
| Rốt chuyện cái ngôi báu đã làm cho ba sắc dân ấy điên đảo thống khổ biết bao nhiêu, bao nhiêu Đế Vị cường liệt hôm nay chúng ta đã ngó thấy đều là giả hết. | In the end, those precious thrones caused those three races so much turmoil and suffering. How many mighty imperial positions have we seen today that were all false? |
| Bởi họ không có lưu lại cho đời một mãy may gì. | Because they have not left behind for posterity even a glimmer of anything. |
| Còn cái thiệt là người mà chúng ta lên án là mê tín dị đoan; đem đóng đinh trên cây Thánh Giá là Đức Chúa Jésus Christ, quyền của Ngài 2.000 năm vẫn còn tồn tại mãi thôi mà trái lại càng ngày nó càng cường liệt. | But the real is a man whom we have condemned as superstitious; whom we nailed to a Holy Cross: the Lord Jesus Christ. His power, after 2,000 years, still endures, and on the contrary, it grows stronger with each passing day. |
| Người thứ nhì nữa; là Ông Già mang Bình Bát đi xin nơi này ăn, đi xin nơi kia ăn, đi mót từ manh giẻ rách của thiên hạ đặng chầm khiếu làm áo mặc cho kẻ lạnh, mà 2.500 năm cái quyền Ông ấy vẫn còn tồn tại. | A second man: an Old Man carrying a begging bowl, asking for food here and there, gleaning scraps of torn cloth from the people to patch together a robe to clothe the cold. Yet after 2,500 years, that man’s power still endures. |
| Cái quyền giả thế nào? Cái quyền thiệt thế nào? Thật không thể đoán trước được. | What is false power? What is true power? Truly, it cannot be predicted. |
| Tội nghiệp thay! Những quyền mà tạo nên bền vững, kẻ đào tạo nó khó khăn lắm, làm cho đến mức đó thật là nguy hiểm mà khi đoạt đặng rồi thì không thể nào tiêu diệt đặng. | What a pity! The powers that are created to be lasting are very difficult to build. The person who creates it faces great danger to reach that point, but once it is attained, it can never be destroyed. |
| Luận lại “Phú hữu tứ hải” của các ngôi Vua Chúa dùng xương máu thiên hạ lập Đế vị, cả của cải trong nước đều là của mình. | Let us consider the “Possessors of the Four Seas,” the Kings and Lords who used the blood of the people to establish their imperial thrones. All the wealth of the country belonged to them. |
| Rốt chuyện lại chúng ta coi giòng họ làm Vua Chúa trên mặt địa cầu này giờ phút này các Tông Đường đó. | In the end, let us look at the clans that became Kings and Lords on the face of this globe. At this moment, those extended families… |
| Nếu Bần Đạo làm chứng quả quyết các Tông Đường ấy còn tàn mạt, còn hèn tiện, còn ăn mày, ăn xin hơn các Tông Đường khác nữa mà chớ! | If I were to bear witness, I would declare with conviction that those clans are more decrepit, more wretched, more likely to be beggars and supplicants than any other clan! |
| Không lưu lại sự giàu sang bền vững cho con cháu của họ. | Their great wealth did not endure for their descendants. |
| Có một người ta chỉ sợ, đời không ai biết không ai ngó tới, nếu không nói ra họ gớm ghiết, là Đức Khổng Phu Tử, Đạo của Ngài giờ phút này cái nền văn minh Nho Giáo cũng không tiêu tàn. | There is one man whom people fear; in life, no one knew him or paid him any attention. If it is not spoken, people would express their revulsion: the Venerable Confucius. The Way of his, at this very moment, the civilization of Confucianism, has also not perished. |
| Giờ phút nào quốc dân Trung Hoa không tiêu diệt thì Đạo của Đức Khổng Phu Tử vẫn còn tồn tại mãi thôi. | As long as the Chinese people are not destroyed, the Way of the Venerable Confucius will endure. |
| Hại thay mà may thay!! … cho nhơn loại, là sắc dân của Trung Hoa tới 450 triệu hay là 500 triệu muốn tiêu diệt không dễ gì, mà hễ sắc dân ấy vẫn còn tồn tại thì Đạo của Đức Khổng Phu Tử cũng vẫn còn mãi mãi. | What a pity and what fortune!!… for humanity, that the race of China, with its 450 or 500 million people, cannot be easily destroyed. And as long as that race endures, the Way of the Venerable Confucius will also endure forever. |
| Còn cái ngôi của các Đế Vương đào tạo trên mặt địa cầu đều tiêu hủy, còn Đạo của Đức Khổng Phủ Tử nó in sâu trong đầu óc trí não của nền văn minh nhà Nho cho tới tận thế nó cũng vẫn còn. | The thrones of the Emperors created on the face of this globe have all been destroyed. But the Way of the Venerable Confucius is imprinted deep in the minds and intellects of the Confucian civilization, and so until the end of the world, it will remain. |
| Mỗi một sắc dân chịu ảnh hưởng nền văn minh ấy như : Triều Tiên, Nhựt Bổn, Việt Nam. | Each and every race influenced by that civilization, such as Korea, Japan, and Vietnam… |
| Ngày nào sắc dân Trung Hoa chưa tiêu diệt, thì Đạo của Đức khổng Phu Tử chưa tiêu diệt. | as long as the Chinese race is not destroyed, the Way of the Venerable Confucius will not be destroyed. |
| Cái Đạo kia là thiệt còn cái Đời kia là giả. | That Way is real, while that World is false. |
