| Đêm nay Bần Đạo thuyết về tâm hồn của dân tộc Việt Nam trong giờ buổi này, cả thảy con cái Đức Chí Tôn Nam, Nữ cũng như Bần Đạo. | Tonight I will preach on the soul of the Vietnamese people at this time, for all the children of the Supreme Being, both Male and Female, as well as for myself. |
| Chúng ta đã thọ hưởng đặc ân Tổ Phụ lưu truyền một nền văn minh tối cổ là Nho Đạo. | We have inherited the special grace of our Forefathers—a most ancient civilization passed down, which is the Confucian Way. |
| Cả phong hóa văn hiến đều thuộc về Khổng Giáo, từ khi lập quốc thì dân do căn bản tối cổ của nền văn minh Khổng Giáo mà đào tạo nên hình tướng của quốc thể chúng ta. | All our customs and culture belong to Confucianism. Since the founding of the nation, the people have been molded by the ancient foundation of Confucian civilization to form the shape of our national body. |

| Do nơi đó mà đào tạo cả tâm hồn của nòi giống, chắc các Đấng ấy chưa biết sự thay đổi trong giờ phút này mà các con cái của họ; máu mủ của họ đã chịu ảnh hưởng. | It was from this that the soul of our race was forged. Surely, those Beings did not know of the changes in this moment that their children, their own flesh and blood, have been subjected to. |
| Nếu nói phong hóa cổ truyền của Tổ Phụ chúng ta để lại, thì con người của chúng ta về tâm hồn vẫn chơn chất hiền lương đạo đức. | If we speak of the traditional culture left by our Forefathers, our people are still essentially simple, virtuous, and moral in spirit. |

| Phong hóa của Thiên Chúa Giáo đào tạo nền văn minh giờ phút này chúng ta chịu ảnh hưởng gì? | And what influence are we currently under from the civilization molded by the customs of Christianity? |
| Một đàng thì chỉ lấy Đạo Tam Cang Ngũ Thường làm căn bản, chỉ biết lấy tinh thần tâm lý làm mực thước mà đào tạo tâm hồn của mình. | On one side, the foundation is the Three Bonds and Five Constant Virtues; one knows only to take the spirit and psychology as the standard for cultivating one’s soul. |
| Còn một đàng thì lấy khoa học, lấy quan sát thiệt tướng của sự sống làm căn bản. | On the other side, the foundation is science, observation of the reality of life. |
| Chúng ta ngó thấy hiển nhiên trước mắt rằng: Hai cái hình ảnh ấy chẳng khác nào như hai người đàn bà. | We see clearly before our eyes: These two images are like two women. |
| Một người thì chơn chất thật thà chỉ lấy tâm lý làm căn bản cử xử thế tình lấy tâm làm mực thước, một hành vi chi chẳng hề khi nào dám đi qua của tiếng gọi tâm hồn. | One is simple and honest, taking psychology as the basis for worldly conduct, taking the heart as the measure, never daring to act against the call of the soul. |
| Một đàng lấy cả phong thể trang nghiêm hình ảnh đẹp đẽ sang giàu, hết thảy cả bóng dáng mỹ thuật ở trong mình đào tạo ra. | The other takes on a dignified appearance, a beautiful and wealthy image, creating all manner of artistic forms within herself. |
| Thì chúng ta ngó thấy một đàng lấy Sắc làm căn bản, một đàng lấy Tâm làm căn bản. | We see that one side takes Appearance (Sắc) as the foundation, while the other takes Heart (Tâm) as the foundation. |
| Bần Đạo dám chắc; thử chúng ta để dấu hỏi (?) nếu như có một người mỹ nhân như thế và một người thô nhơn như thế. | I am certain; let us pose a question (?) If there were a beautiful woman like that and a plain woman like that. |
| Ta để câu hỏi có một vị tình lang đang chọn lựa như vậy. | Let us ask, if a suitor were choosing. |
| Bần Đạo dám chắc sự chọn lựa ấy không cần nói cả thảy các con cái Đức Chí Tôn đã để trong cái trí và trong mình rồi. | I am certain that the choice needs no words; all the children of the Supreme Being already know it in their minds and in themselves. |
| “Hữu nhan sắc hữu ác đức” lời cổ nhơn đã để lại quả không sai đó vậy. | “Having beauty but having evil virtue,” the words left by the ancients are truly not wrong. |
| Bây giờ chúng ta nghĩ lụng lại, nếu như một người lịch sự kia chúng ta để trong óc não của họ, dạy dỗ họ cho có tâm hồn nhân đức đạo nghĩa biết giữ khuôn khổ của một người đàn bà. | Now let us reconsider. If we take that elegant person and instill in their mind, teach them to have a soul of benevolence, virtue, and righteousness, to know how to keep the proper conduct of a woman. |
| Thì đáng giá là người của thiên hạ đó là vì họ lấy Tam Tùng Tứ Đức làm căn bản. | Then they would be a person worthy of the world’s esteem, because their foundation is the Three Submissions and Four Virtues. |
| Người lịch sự ấy làm y theo lời mình đã dạy thì quí hóa thế nào. | If that elegant person acts according to what we have taught, how precious would that be? |
| Tôi tưởng cả thảy trên mặt địa cầu này, nếu người đàn ông nào để ý lập đời thì mơ mộng có một điều là: | I imagine that on the face of this earth, any man looking to build a life dreams of only one thing: |
| Được người vợ nhân từ đạo nghĩa mà lại đẹp thì còn hạnh phúc nào hơn nữa. | to have a wife who is benevolent, righteous, and also beautiful—what greater happiness could there be? |
| Nếu có tay nào đào tạo được như thế thì dám chắc cả thiên hạ khen tay đó lắm vậy. | If there is a hand that can mold such a person, I am certain the whole world would praise that hand greatly. |
| Ấy vậy tâm hồn của thiên hạ như thế đó, ta thử hỏi có thể nào đào tạo nhơn loại, đẹp đẽ như sự mơ ước của chúng ta đó hay chăng? | Thus, such is the soul of the world. Let us ask: is it possible to mold humanity to be as beautiful as in our dreams? |
