Đêm nay là ngày vía của Nhứt Trấn Oai Nghiêm, kiêm Giáo Tông Đại Đạo Tam Kỳ Phổ Độ. Tonight is the feast day of the First Guardian of Majestic Authority, who is also the Spiritual Pope of the Great Way for the Third Universal Amnesty.
Đức Lý Giáo Tông chúng ta lấy làm hân hạnh nhờ ơn Đức Chí Tôn ban cho chúng ta một người Anh Cả Thiêng Liêng hiển linh quyền năng vô đối. The Venerable Spiritual Pope Lý. We are so honored, through the grace of the Supreme Being, to be granted an Eldest Brother who is spiritually manifest and possesses unparalleled power.
Bần Đạo nhớ lại hồi buổi ban sơ mới Khai Đạo, thật ra Bần Đạo không có đức tin gì hết, không có đức tin đến nước Đại Từ Phụ tức cười. I recall in the early days, when the Way was first inaugurated. Truly, I had no faith whatsoever. I lacked faith to the point where the Great and Merciful Father found it amusing.
Ngài đến nhà Bần Đạo năm Sửu dạy cả mấy Anh Lớn ngày nay là Chức Sắc của Đạo, đi đến mọi nhà, thật ra Đức Chí Tôn đến thăm, đến viếng mọi con cái của Ngài, Bần Đạo không đức tin gì hết nghe nói Tiên giáng đi theo nghe Thi chơi, làm cho Đại Từ Phụ phải tức cười. In the year Sửu, He came to my house to teach all the Elder Brothers who are now Dignitaries of the Way, and He went to every house. In truth, the Supreme Being was visiting all of His children. I had no faith at all. I heard that Immortals were descending, so I went along to listen to poetry for amusement. This made the Great and Merciful Father laugh.
Ngài cho Bài Thi ai nấy cũng tốt, duy có Bài Thi của Bần Đạo rất dị hợm như vầy: He gave a poem to everyone, and all were good, except my poem was very peculiar, like this:
THI POEM
Ngao ngán không phân lẽ thiệt không, Disgusted at not discerning what’s false from what’s real,
Thấy thằng áp út quá buồn lòng. Seeing the youngest one, my heart feels great despair.
Muốn giàu Thầy hứa đem cho của, If you desire wealth, your Teacher promises a fortune to give,
Cái của cái công phải trả đồng. But wealth and merit must be paid for in equal share.
Đại Từ Phụ còn thêm hai chữ “Nghe con” cho đến bảy tháng lúc xuống ở Thủ Đức, năm thiên hạ bị bịnh chướng, khi không khởi phù mình rồi chết, nhứt là ở tại Thủ Đức, lắm bịnh nhơn quá chừng. The Great and Merciful Father even added the words “Listen, my son.” For seven months, when I went to live in Thủ Đức during the epidemic—when people would suddenly bloat up and die, especially there, in Thủ Đức, where there were so many sick people—
Đức Chí Tôn biểu xuống ở Thủ Đức cứu bịnh cho họ trong bảy tháng xuống ở Thánh Thất của Đạo, nhờ Đức Lý giảng dạy với ngòi bút, trọn bảy tháng trường mới biết Đạo. the Supreme Being told me to go to Thủ Đức to save the sick. For seven months, I stayed in the Holy House of the Way, and it was thanks to the teachings of the Venerable Lý, through the mechanism of automatic writing, that over the course of those seven long months I finally came to know the Way.
Có cái hay ho hơn hết là những điều gì Ngài dạy trong Cơ Bút là những sở hành trong kiếp sanh của Bần Đạo. The best thing of all was that the things he taught through automatic writing became the actions of my very life.
Bần Đạo làm chứng một Đấng mà Đức Chí Tôn đã lựa làm Anh Cả của chúng ta linh hiển lạ lùng, không cần lập đi lập lại, đối với Chức Sắc tức nhiên cả Thánh Thể của Đức Chí Tôn Bần Đạo cốt yếu nói cho toàn con cái của Ngài nam, nữ lưỡng phái phải định tâm và kiên cố đức tin của mình, các việc Đức Chí Tôn tiên tri, Bần Đạo vừa nói từ từ, nói đủ hết, Bần Đạo thú thật nhờ cái linh hiển của Ngài, nhờ Ngài giáo hóa nên Bần Đạo hôm nay được khối đức tin mạnh mẽ to tác. I bear witness to a Being whom the Supreme Being has chosen to be our Eldest Brother, who is wondrously and divinely manifest. I do not need to repeat this; in addressing the Dignitaries, that is, the entire Divine Body of the Supreme Being, my main purpose is to tell all His children, both male and female, that they must be resolute and firm in their faith. The things the Supreme Being prophesied, I have gradually recounted all of them. I confess, it is thanks to His divine manifestation, thanks to his teaching, that today I possess a great and strong bloc of faith.
Nếu không có nhờ Anh Cả vô biên linh hiển ấy chắc là phận sự yếu trọng của Bần Đạo hôm nay chỉ mơ hồ, đức tin yếu ớt, thiếu đức tin, thiếu cương quyết, thiếu tâm Đạo vững chắc. If not for that infinitely manifest Eldest Brother, surely the crucial duty I bear today would be but a vague notion. My faith would be weak. I would lack faith, lack determination, lack a firm and steady heart for the Way.
Bần Đạo tưởng nếu ba điều ấy thiếu thì nền chơn giáo không được nên hình như thế nầy, cả thảy con cái Đức Chí Tôn đều biết không có nền chơn giáo nào chỉ có hai mươi mấy năm mà đặng bành trướng, danh thể của nó cao trọng truyền bá một cách mau chóng, như nền Đạo Cao Đài của Đức Chí Tôn. I believe that if those three things were lacking, the true religion would not have taken shape as it has today. All the children of the Supreme Being know that no other true religion, in just twenty-something years, has expanded so, its name and body held in such high esteem and propagated so quickly, as the Cao Đài Religion of the Supreme Being.
Hôm nay Bần Đạo chứng chắc quả nhiên như vậy, cái năng lực của Đạo hôm nay được như thế này là nhờ Đức Lý Đại Tiên cầm quyền Thiêng Liêng vô đối, nhờ người Anh Cả của ta là Đức Lý Giáo Tông điều khiển quyền năng vô hình của Ngài. Today, I am certain of this truth. The power that the Way has today is thanks to the Venerable Great Immortal Lý holding unparalleled Divine authority; it is thanks to our Eldest Brother, the Venerable Spiritual Pope Lý, directing His invisible power.
Bần Đạo hôm nay mới đặng cái quyền và năng lực bành trướng như thế nầy. It is only because of this that I today possess this power and this capacity for expansion.
Có một điều Bần Đạo dặn trước. There is one thing I must warn you about in advance.
Những kẻ tưởng Ngài vô hình coi chừng Ngài, những kẻ thiếu đức tin dám khi rẻ quyền lịnh của Đạo, oai quyền của Ngài coi chừng Ngài trừng trị, những kẻ nào phạm nhầm Thiên Điều Bần Đạo dám quả quyết khỏi tránh nơi tay của Ngài. Those who think He is invisible should beware of Him. Those who lack faith and dare to scorn the authority and decrees of the Way should beware His punishment. Any who violate the Divine Laws, I declare with conviction that they will find it difficult to escape his hand.
Các con cái Đức Chí Tôn coi Ngài rất công bình. The children of the Supreme Being should see Him as exceedingly just.
Ngài dạy: Phải lập Công, lập Đức, lập Ngôn tức nhiên là “Tam Lập” Ngài rất công bình, rất oai quyền, thiên vị chúng ta nhờ Ngài bảo vệ không thế gì sơ sót. He teaches that we must accomplish Meritorious Deeds, accomplish Virtue, and accomplish Worthy Speech—that is, the “Three Accomplishments”. He is most just, most powerful. In our celestial rank, we are protected by Him, so there can be no mistakes.
Đức Chí Tôn coi Ngài cũng như một Tướng Soái, oai quyền của Ngài lớn lắm. The Supreme Being sees him as a Supreme Commander; His authority is immense.
ở nơi Ngọc Hư Cung quyền của Ngài yếu trọng vĩ đại to tác lắm. In the Jade Palace of Emptiness, his power is vital, great, and immense.
Cả con cái của Ngài cũng nên tin nơi Ngài, mong mỏi nơi Ngài để cả ước vọng và đức tin nơi Ngài. All His children should also believe in Him, hope in Him, and place all their aspirations and faith in Him.
Bần Đạo xin khuyên một điều, lớn, nhỏ phải yên tâm giữ Đạo, đừng sơ sót, nhứt là đừng có ỷ công khi lịnh coi chừng Ngài, Ngài trừng trị một cách oai quyền, trước mắt Bần Đạo đã thấy, hai mươi mấy năm lập Đạo cùng Ngài, Bần Đạo quả quyết như vậy. I wish to offer one piece of advice: both great and small, you must have peace of mind and uphold the Way. Do not be careless. And especially, do not presume upon your merits and defy orders. Beware of Him. He punishes with mighty power. I have seen it with my own eyes over these twenty-some years of establishing the Way with Him. I declare this with conviction.
Chúng sa hãy để trọn đức tin nơi Ngài một Đấng công chánh oai quyền, nhưng rất yêu ái. Let us place our complete faith in Him, a Being who is just and powerful, yet also deeply loving.
Chúng ta được Ngài bảo vệ cho thật là một sự an ủi vĩ đại trong kiếp sanh của chúng sa đó vậy. To be protected by Him is truly a great comfort in our lifetime.
