| 44. Who will comprehend this earth, | 44. Ai chinh phục đất này |
| the world of Yama, and the gods? | Dạ ma, Thiên giới này? |
| Who will discern the well-taught Dhamma | Ai khéo giảng Pháp cú, |
| as one who's skilled selects a flower? | Như người [1] khéo hái hoa? |
| 45. One Trained will comprehend this earth, | 45. Hữu học chinh phục đất, |
| the world of Yama, and the gods, | Dạ ma, Thiên giới này. |
| One Trained discerns the well-taught Dhamma | Hữu học giảng Pháp cú, |
| as one who's skilled selects a flower. | Như người khéo hái hoa. |
| 46. Having known this froth-like body | 46. Biết thân như bọt nước, |
| and awakening to its mirage nature, | Ngộ thân là như huyễn, |
| smashing Mara's flowered shafts | Bẻ tên hoa của Ma, |
| unseen beyond the Death-king go. | Vượt tầm mắt Thần chết |
| 47. For one who has a clinging mind | 47. Người nhặt các loại hoa, |
| and gathers only pleasure-flowers, | Ý đắm say, tham nhiễm, |
| Death does seize and carry away | Bị Thần chết mang đi, |
| as great flood a sleeping village. | Như lụt trôi làng ngủ. |
| 48. For one of desires insatiate | 48. Người nhặt các loại hoa, |
| who gathers only pleasure-flowers, | Ý đắm say, tham nhiễm, |
| for one who has a clinging mind | Các dục chưa thỏa mãn, |
| Death the sovereign overpowers. | Ðã bị chết chinh phục. |
| 49. Just as a bee in a flower | 49. Như ong đến với hoa, |
| harming neither hue nor scent | Không hại sắc và hương, |
| gathers nectar, flies away, | Che chở hoa, lấy nhụy. |
| so in towns a Wise One fares. | Bậc Thánh đi vào làng. |
| 50. Not others' opposition | 50. Không nên nhìn lỗi người, |
| nor what they did or failed to do, | Người làm hay không làm. |
| but in oneself should be sought | Nên nhìn tự chính mình, |
| things done, things left undone. | Có làm hay không làm. |
| 51. Just as a gorgeous blossom | 51. Như bông hoa tươi đẹp, |
| brilliant but unscented, | Có sắc nhưng không hương. |
| so fruitless the well-spoken words | Cũng vậy, lời khéo nói, |
| of one who does not act. | Không làm, không kết quả. |
| 52. Just as a gorgeous blossom, | 52. Như bông hoa tươi đẹp, |
| brilliant and sweet-scented, | Có sắc lại thêm hương ; |
| so fruitful the well-spoken words | Cũng vậy, lời khéo nói, |
| of one who acts as well. | Có làm, có kết quả. |
| 53. As from a mass of flowers | 53. Như từ một đống hoa, |
| many a garland may be made, | Nhiều tràng hoa được kết. |
| so by one born mortal | Cũng vậy, thân sanh tử, |
| should many good deeds be done. | Làm được nhiều thiện sự. |
| 54. The fragrance of flowers drifts with the wind | 54. Hương các loại hoa thơm [2] |
| as sandalwood, jasmine of lavender. | Không ngược bay chiều gió |
| The fragrance of the virtuous sweeps the wind, | Nhưng hương người đức hạnh |
| all pervasive is virtue of the good. | Ngược gió khắp tung bay |

| 55. Sandalwood or lavender, | 55. Hoa chiên đàn, già la, |
| lotus or the jasmine great, | Hoa sen, hoa vũ quý. |
| of these many fragrances | Giữa những hương hoa ấy, |
| virtue's fragrance is supreme. | Giới hương là vô thượng. |
| 56. Faint is this fragrance | 56. Ít giá trị hương này, |
| of lavender and sandalwood, | Hương già la, chiên đàn ; |
| but fragrance of the virtuous | Chỉ hương người đức hạnh, |
| soars sublime amongst the gods. | Tối thượng tỏa Thiên giới. |
| 57. Of those with perfect virtue | 57. Giữa ai có giới hạnh, |
| who dwell in heedfulness, | An trú không phóng dật. |
| freed by Final Knowledge: | Chánh trí, chơn giải thoát, |
| Mara cannot know their path. | Ác ma không thấy đường. |
| 58. As beside the highroad | 58. Như giữa đống rác nhớp, |
| where rubbish in a pit is flung | Quăng bỏ trên đường lớn, |
| there flourishes the lotus bloom | Chỗ ấy hoa sen nở, |
| fragrant and the mind's delight. | Thơm sạch, đẹp ý người. |
| 59. So among rubbish-beings, | 59. Cũng vậy giữa quần sanh, |
| common humans blind-become, | Uế nhiễm, mù, phàm tục, |
| the Perfect Buddha's pupil | Ðệ tử bậc Chánh Giác, |
| outshines with wisdom bright. | Sáng ngời với Tuệ Tri. |
