| 290. If one should see great happiness | 290. Nhờ từ bỏ lạc nhỏ, |
| in giving up small happiness | Thấy được lạc lớn hơn, |
| one wise the lesser would renounce | Bậc trí bỏ lạc nhỏ, |
| the greater full-discerning. | Thấy được lạc lớn hơn. |
| 291. Who so for self wants happiness | 291. Gieo khổ đau cho người, |
| by causing others pain, | Mong cầu lạc cho mình, |
| entangled in anger's tangles | Bị hận thù buộc ràng |
| one's from anger never free. | Không sao thoát hận thù. |
| 292. What should be done is left undone | 292. Việc đáng làm, không làm, |
| and done is what should not be done, | Không đáng làm, lại làm, |
| ever the pollutions grow | Người ngạo mạn, phóng dật, |
| of those ones proud and heedless. | Lậu hoặc ắt tăng trưởng. |
| 293. But for who always practice well | 293. Người siêng năng cần mẫn, |
| bodily mindfulness, | Thường thường quán thân niệm, |
| do never what should not be done, | Không làm việc không đáng, |
| and ever do what should be done | Gắng làm việc đáng làm, |
| for mindful ones, the full-aware, | Người tư niệm giác tỉnh, |
| pollutions fade away. | Lậu hoặc được tiêu trừ. |

| and then two warrior kings, | Giết hai vua Sát lỵ [2] |
| a realm as well its treasurer, | Giết vương quốc, quần thần [3] |
| one goes immune, a Brahmin True. | Vô ưu, Phạm chí sống. |

| and then two learned kings, | Hai vua Bà la môn |
| as well the fifth, a tiger fierce, | Giết hổ tướng thứ năm [4] |
| one goes immune, a Brahmin True. | Vô ưu, Phạm chí sống. |
| 296. Well awakened, they're awake | 296. Ðệ tử Gotama, |
| ever the Buddha's pupils | Luôn luôn tự tỉnh giác |
| who constantly by day, by night | Vô luận ngày hay đêm, |
| are mindful of the Buddha. | Thường tưởng niệm Phật Ðà. |
| 297. Well awakened, they're awake | 297. Ðệ tử Gotama, |
| ever the Buddha's pupils | Luôn luôn tự tỉnh giác, |
| who constantly by day, by night | Vô luận ngày hay đêm, |
| are mindful of the Dhamma. | Thường tưởng niệm Chánh Pháp. |

| are mindful of the Sangha. | Thường tưởng niệm Tăng già. |

| who constantly by day, by night | Vô luận ngày hay đêm, |
| are mindful of the body. | Thường tưởng niệm sắc thân. |

| in harmlessness delight. | Ý vui niềm bất hại. |

| in meditation take delight. | Ý vui tu thiền quán. |
| 302. Hard's the going-forth, hard to delight in it, | 302. Vui hạnh xuất gia khó, |
| hard the household life and dukkha is it too. | Tại gia sinh hoạt khó, |
| Dukkha's to dwell with those dissimilar | Sống bạn không đồng, khổ, |
| and dukkha befalls the wanderer. | Trôi lăn luân hồi, khổ. |
| Be therefore not a wanderer, | Vậy chớ sống luân hồi, |
| not one whom dukkha befalls. | Chớ chạy theo đau khổ. |
| 303. Who's full of faith and virtue, | 303. Tín tâm, sống giới hạnh |
| of substance, high repute, | Ðủ danh xưng tài sản, |
| is honoured everywhere, | Chỗ nào người ấy đến, |
| wherever that one goes. | Chỗ ấy được cung kính. |
| 304. Afar the true are manifest | 304. Người lành dầu ở xa |
| like Himalayan range, | Sáng tỏ như núi tuyết, |
| yet even here the false aren't seen, | Người ác dầu ở gần |
| they're arrows shot by night. | Như tên bắn đêm đen. |
| 305. Alone one sits, alone one lies, | 305. Ai ngồi nằm một mình, |
| alone one walks unweariedly, | Ðộc hành không buồn chán, |
| in solitude one tames oneself | Tự điều phục một mình |
| so in the woods will one delight. | Sống thoải mái rừng sâu. |
