| 100. Though a thousand speeches be | 100. Dầu nói ngàn ngàn lời, |
| composed of meaningless lines, | Nhưng không gì lợi ích, |
| better the single meaningful line | Tốt hơn một câu nghĩa, |
| one hears, then comes to calm. | Nghe xong, được tịnh lạc. |
| 101. Though a thousand verses be | 101. Dầu nói ngàn câu kệ |
| composed of meaningless lines, | Nhưng không gì lợi ích, |
| better the single line of verse | Tốt hơn nói một câu, |
| one hears, then comes to calm. | Nghe xong, được tịnh lạc. |
| 102. Though a hundred verses chant | 102. Dầu nói trăm câu kệ |
| composed of meaningless lines, | Nhưng không gì lợi ích |
| better the single Dhamma line | Tốt hơn một câu Pháp, |
| one hears, then comes to calm. | Nghe xong, được tịnh lạc. |
| 103. Though thousand times a thousand men | 103. Dầu tại bãi chiến trường |
| in battle one may conquer, | Thắng ngàn ngàn quân địch, |
| yet should one conquer just oneself | Tự thắng mình tốt hơn, |
| one is the greatest conqueror. | Thật chiến thắng tối thượng. |
| 104. Greater the conquest of oneself | 104. Tự thắng , tốt đẹp hơn, |
| than subjugating others, | Hơn chiến thắng người khác. |
| that one who's always well-restrained, | Người khéo điều phục mình, |
| that one who's tamed of self . | Thường sống tự chế ngự. |
| 105. Neither deva nor minstrel divine, | 105. Dầu Thiên Thần, Thát Bà, |
| nor Mara together with Brahma, | Dầu Ma Vương, Phạm Thiên |
| can overthrow the victory | Không ai chiến thắng nổi, |
| of such a one as this. | Người tự thắng như vậy. |
| 106. Month by month for a hundred years | 106. Tháng tháng bỏ ngàn vàng, |
| a thousand one might sacrifice, | Tế tự cả trăm năm, |
| but if for only a moment one | Chẳng bằng trong giây lát, |
| might honour the self-developed, | Cúng dường bậc tự tu. |
| such honour then were better by far | Cúng dường vậy tốt hơn, |
| than a century of sacrifice. | Hơn trăm năm tế tự. |
| 107. One might tend for a hundred years | 107. Dầu trải một trăm năm, |
| the forest's sacred fire, | Thờ lửa tại rừng sâu, |
| but if for only a moment one | Chẳng bằng trong giây lát, |
| might honour the self-developed, | Cúng dường bậc tự tu. |
| such honour then were better by far | Cúng dường vậy tốt hơn, |
| than a century of sacrifice. | Hơn trăm năm tế tự. |
| 108. Whatever one who merit seeks | 108. Suốt năm cúng tế vật, |
| should for a year make sacrifice, | Ðể cầu phước ở đời. |
| all comes not to a quarter part | Không bằng một phần tư |
| of honouring the Noble. | Kính lễ bậc chánh trực. |
| 109. For one of respectful nature | 109. Thường tôn trọng, kính lễ |
| who ever the elders honours, | Bậc kỳ lão trưởng thượng, |
| long life and beauty, joy and strength, | Bốn pháp được tăng trưởng : |
| these qualities increase. | Thọ, sắc, lạc, sức mạnh. |
| 110. Though one should live a hundred years | 110. Dầu sống một trăm năm, |
| foolish, uncontrolled, | Ác giới, không thiền định, |
| yet better is life for a single day | Tốt hơn sống một ngày, |
| moral and meditative. | Trì giới, tu thiền định. |
| 111. Though one should live a hundred years | 111. Ai sống một trăm năm, |
| foolish, uncontrolled, | Ác tuệ, không thiền định. |
| yet better is life for a single day | Tốt hơn sống một ngày, |
| wise and meditative. | Có tuệ, tu thiền định. |

| lazy, of little effort, | Lười nhác không tin tấn, |

| strongly making effort. | Tinh tấn tận sức mình. |
